I agree with OP, I went from very smooth and realistic animations in NCAA 13 to wonky animations in Madden and tackles or falls that look like a guy got sniped or something unrealistic.

Very unimpressed with the new engine, it actually feels like regression to me, I much prefer NCAA 13.

Post of the year nominee, imo.

I also see a lot of:

  • I am tackled and, as I fall to the ground, I end up on my back on top of a defensive player and other defenders just continue to try to dive at me. I'm sure it's supposed to represent a pile up but it just looks stupid.
  • On normal speed or faster, sometimes I am hit....begin to fall to the ground...and then for some reason I suddenly lurch and gain another 5-8 yards. It looks like I fell twice or something.
  • The "glide step" still exists on normal speed or faster. Particularly on KOs i can go from a N-S direction to a SW direction at full speed and the player just glides for 1-3 yards until his feet catch up again.
  • Waaaay too many explosive collisions. A DT that takes one step before making contact with Trent Richardson should not send Trent flying 1-2 yards in the air.
I normally play on slow speed but I have leagues that play on normal speed and, imo, normal speed physics is pretty bad. It's better on slow but my various ball carriers seems like they are made of tin foil way too often.

The old saying "be careful for what you ask for" is real. What did people expect from a new engine? The same stuff that turned me off from Backbreaker is in this game. This is just a natural progression with some bad and some good. I have seen qbs and rbs fall down like rag doll in the NFL this season. The engine will only get better.

And this is what bothers me -- they technically already had a 'test dummy'. Why would we, as football gamers, have to go through those same trials and errors as the previously titles if they have already figured away around them? Will NCAA have to start from where Madden is this year? That makes no sense to me at all.

This was rushed -- instead of something that really could have made this game special once it was perfected, it was used as a back of the box feature.

but it would never be perfected. At some point you have to roll out the tech and problem solve.

It was absolutely rushed. They decided to implement it in january. Physics is core to the game of football and they should have worked on IE for two years instead of CCM.

Madden will always be fluff over core.

So, if Madden would have waited until Madden 15 then it would be a bug free product?

I don't even know if all three have the same physics engine? One would think NCAA receives the fresh version.

Yes, it was rushed, Cam Weber decided to go for it and it was started in January.
