Re: 2015 Blue Jays Banter

We were truly blessed at one point.

On another note, that 1998 season was the most fun I've had watching the Jays since I was a kid watching the WS teams. I was about 13, and religiously watched the broadcasts every night.

The Yankees went 114-48 that year, there was the whole homer run chase, and I just couldn't get enough of baseball.

Check out that Jays roster: http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/TOR/1998.shtml

I remembered about Green and Delgado having the big years, but I also forgot that was the year Canseco was on the team and hit 46 homers.

And I suggest, for the sake of fun and nostalgia, a further trip down memory lane and check out the Yankees and Red Sox rosters from that year as well. Holy hell!

Re: 2015 Blue Jays Banter

Those were really fun times. I also loved watching the highlights that year because Mike Toth would always shout out "Elvis has left the building" every time Canseco hit a HR. It's kinda sad what happened to Toth, he was an up and coming broadcaster who I believe got in trouble due to some controversies than left the broadcast world for family reasons at one point. Today he's mired as a freelancer while also being the sports director at CFRB 1010.

Anywho, Dan and Buck were the BEST announcing duo in baseball when they were together to the point that when Shulman first went to ESPN they kept that pairing together for a couple years.

Yeah, that was a great combination that made the games more fun to watch. I don't know what has happened to Buck that turned him from a useful colour guy into a corporate shrill for Rogers. He seems to have lost all objectivity along the way.

I forgot about Mike Toth completely. That's an interesting update.

Jays TV broadcasters it's been awhile since they've had a regular TV guy I liked listening to.

Radio was always better to listen to Jays games. Jerry Howarth specifically is one person I think is good. And obviously Tom Cheek.

I miss having Jays games on TSN. They used to have nice music for TSN and CTV games.

Jays first ST game will be on SN tomorrow and if you're not near a TV it'll be on Sportsnet Now if you have a subscription to Rogers.

I had no idea. I'm off tomorrow so I am going to check it out with glee. It's always interesting to get that first glimpse of the players live to see what kind of condition they've showed up in.

On the fantasy side of things, the lighting in The Show this year makes the Rogers Centre look so much better. Can't wait to see a night game.
