Re: Turn Back The Clock: Great Teams

I started a 84' post season last night and your work is great! This list looks remarkable...

Thanks again!

The criteria for a team making the set is thus:
-Making the post season
OR
-Winning 90+ games in a season

So far I'm leaning towards these for my team choices.

Baltimore 1971
Boston 1946/1967 or 1975
New York A 1951(I would do 1927...but they need to be season playable and remarkably ...only 26 players played for the 1927 squad!)
Tampa Bay 2005
Toronto 1985

Chicago A 1983/1959
Cleveland 1954
Detroit 1984/1961
Kansas City 1985
Minnesota 1987/1970

California A 1982/1979
Oakland 1973
Seattle 2001
Texas 1977
Houston 1986/1980

Atlanta 1982/1969
Miami 2003/1997
Washington 1981
New York N 1988
Philadelphia 1976/1980

Chicago N 1984
Cincinnati 1975
Milwaukee 1982
Pittsburgh 1979/1970
St. Louis 1967

Arizona 2001
Colorado 1994
L.A. N. 1949/1955
San Diego 1984
San Francisco 1971
(bolded teams are first preference right now)

I think that's a pretty good mix and should be a lot of fun.

Let me know what you guys are thinking!

Thanks.

My favourite player was Thurman Munson, so I vote for the 77' Yanks, instead of the 51' team...

Awesome news!!!

Would love the 62 or 65 Giants, but I am a child of the 60's...

'61 Tigers hung w/ the Yanks for most of the season. Colavito hit 45 hr's, Stormin' Norman played out of his mind and Lary won 23. Cash hit something like .361 in 1961 and then hit in the .240's in '62.

MK-- for the Philadelphia team, 1931 A's or 1964 Phillies (should have made the post season.) lol!

MK-- '65 Dodgers. Koufax: 382 k's in 336 IP. Basically a 3 man rotation w/ Drysdale and Osteen complimenting Sandy. Mickey Mouse offense for LA:
Wills walks, steals 2nd, gets bunted to 3rd and scores on a sacrifice fly.

Also love 60s... '62 team yes! Willie Mac hits that scorching line drive 3-4 feet left or right of Richardson and they win the Series.

I meant MLB The Show rosters. I've been a Yankee fan since 1958 so I remember those great Tiger teams. Kaline has the misfortune of playing at the same time as some of the greatest outfielders ever.
