why did you make the jump to the show?

this question is for all the folks out there who migrated to the show from another title (presumably MVP). maybe some people on the fence might be sold reading this...

anyways, what caused you to make the jump? what really sold you onto the show over whatever you used to play? what was that last game lacking?

for me it was the RTTS feature. i wasn't aware of the show until i went to my boy's house and watched him play RTTS and i thought it was a breath of fresh air for a sports game.

Basically, my other option failed me after 2K7 (oops...) the show does more things right than any other baseball game...it plays more like real baseball...there are still things that bug me, but the overall experience is solid...

The inclusion of Manage Only mode is what got me to try it. Then the overall presentation and feel of the game of baseball is what got me to stay. Like someone else said, it does the most things right.

The short awnser is because MVP is no longer. Imagine what it would be now if exclusive licensing hadn't effed things up. We would have both The Show and MVP to chose from!

I switched in 08 as I burned up my 3rd 360 and I couldnt wait another season with no baseball .

It's only taken 20 years to get a worthy successor to Baseball Stars.

Speaking of Baseball Stars, it's hilarious it's taken this long for a developer to do one of the key things that made Baseball Stars so great -- make your own player and develop him over time.

the year after they quit making mvp , i was in need for a baseball game so i got the show for ps2 , ive always had sony stuff never microsoft

After playing 5 full seasons of HH 03 it was time to make a change...and luckily by last year...The Show started showing signs of becoming a great BB vid. game. I don't play many Vid games anymore but I have to have a BB game to play.

Franchise mode. It's primary reason why I play sports games and I would like that franchise mode to be as close to the real thing as possible. The Show does that for me especially now with the amatuer draft in June, 40 man rosters, etc. The only thing it's missing is single A teams, and it would be cool to have a college counter part that we could import players from like with Madden and NCAA Football.

Because MLB 2k5 was terrible in terms of gameplay and animations and menus and pretty much everything EXCEPT presentation. To this day, ESPN MLB 2k5 has the best presentation of any baseball game ive ever played.

Other than that, I was looking into making a switch and saw a preview video of MLB 06 The show and was completely impressed by the in-game animations. Particularly the swing/HR animations.

Ive been hooked ever since.

I've been on the "Show bandwagon" before it was The Show lol It really is amazing to look back to when I got their first game "MLB 06" (not The Show) and now see how far it's come, It really does earn the name "The Show":wink:

I was a High Heat and MVP guy. When those two games went under, I became and MLB 2K and The Show guy...I had no choice!! But I'm glad, as much as I loved MVP, I don't see any way they could have gotten that game to the level The Show is at now. The Show '08 blew MVP 05 out of the water as the best baseball game ever to me, '09 is just ridiculously good, and that's going by a month-old demo!

I remember I bought this game and a ps2 so I could play it a few years back. That was due to me getting tired of playing the same game year in year out(mvp 05). If only the ps3's were as affordable as the ps2 when I bought it(or if I had enough money to buy a ps3).
