To guess a pitch you have to have the feature turned on in your settings. What you actually do to guess is you press the R2 together with the pitch type you think your opponent will throw. Example, your opponent uses the circle to throw a curve ball. If you want to guess curve ball, before the pitch is made by your opponent, you press the R2 & while holding it down you press the circle. You have now guessed the pitch. If it is a correct guess & you have feedback on, your strike zone area will blink red telling you that yuo guessed correctly.

In addition to guessing the pitch, you can also guess the pitch's location. To do this, while you are holding down the R2 you also move your left analog stick to an area within the strike zone & then press the face button to guess the pitch while holding down the R2 AND the left analog stick in the area you choose to guess it for.

I hope this explains things well. I believe the manual that comes with the game explains how to do this, but I did not look at it so I am not sure.

Re: Guess Pitch-On or Off?

OFF

I hate it when people use guess pitch on EVERY single pitch online...it would be less annoying if they use it wisely.

Plus, Guess Pitch IMO are for people who aren't familiar with SCEA's MLB series and it's hitting mechanics.

No, no, no, no, no. I'm extremely familiar.

Again, as I posted on last page, I NEEDED it last year because 1) I suck at hitting (slow reflexes) and wanted realistic stats; and 2) there were limits to how far you could adjust the sliders to get realistic results, so the only choice I had left was to cheat a bit with Guess Pitch.

Re: Guess Pitch-On or Off?

Guess Pitch on or off doesn't really bother me. It's somewhat realistic in the fact that a lot of professional baseball IS guessing pitches. You think they can see that 101 MPH coming? No, they guess it's a fastball and start their swings early.

You use it..no biggie. There's no reason for you to feel as though you need to defend your choice. You use guess pitch and enjoy the game. Thats all that matters.

Re: Guess Pitch-On or Off?

It makes sense to use it to guess the pitch. It's too difficult to spot the pitch out of the hand and read fastball or split finger in a video game. But a good hitter will pick that up right away.

It's a nice feature in 2K10... as the ball is released, text flashes to tell you the pitch for higher rated hitters in good counts.

No need for location

I never use guees pitch. Its makes the batting way less organic for me and I like to capatilize on the natural feel of the game.
