Re: Make me feel better about lowering the pitch speed.

How is pitch speed at 0 on Veteran working?

I was playing All-Star with pitch speed at 0 and finally had enough, so I sucked up my pride and dropped down to Veteran, but I moved pitch speed back to 5. After four games, I could not pull a fastball for the life of me. I'm not talking 95 mph; I couldn't get around on fastballs in the upper 80s/low 90s. What's strange is, I went to practice mode and had no problem with mid 90s fastballs on Veteran default.

Anyway, I'm considering really sucking up my pride and playing with pitch speed at 0 on Veteran.

I'll make you feel better.

The amount of time it takes to recognize the pitch, swing and make contact is a combination of both your skill and your TV input lag. If you have an HD TV then pitch speed on default is pretty fast.

I have pitch speed at 0 personally.

Re: Make me feel better about lowering the pitch speed.

color me crazy - I ended up bumping the pitch speed up two notches. This is my first year with the Show, but I've been playing Baseball games since RBI baseball. I found myself swinging very very early on most pitches, and turning on most fastballs foul. My first two games I was almost no hit by some very bad pitchers. I'm still no good, but my timing is better with faster pitch speed.

Re: Make me feel better about lowering the pitch speed.

I'm with the OP on this topic, I too feel like I'm cheating if I play around with sliders in my favor.

I think a lot of this has to do with the fact that when playing online versus, or co-op, there is no wiggle room regarding sliders. Therefore it's almost as if by adjusting sliders in my favor, I am automatically excluding myself from being able to play online.

The default pitch speed in my opinion is waaaay too fast in The Show. Like others have said though, pitch speed does have a lot to do with the amount of lag on your HD set, so it's really a crapshoot depending on your tv, connection type, and settings.

Right now I'm playing at default but am seriously considering dropping it--ever since the last patch I can't get around on anything and am striking out 11+ times per game.

Re: Make me feel better about lowering the pitch speed.

I seem to have more trouble since the patch, too.

I *hate* tweaking sliders. But I think I lost it when I couldn't pull an 88-mph Randy Wolf fastball with Dan Uggla. Then the next inning, a cpu-controlled Wolf pulled a 96-mph Craig Kimbrel fastball.

I'm old. That's my excuse for dropping the slider.

Re: Make me feel better about lowering the pitch speed.

I personally love higher pitch speed (I play with the pitch speed 10 at all star), a major reason why I love playing the Show but don't care for other video baseball games. I hope the game continues to cater to the audience.

Having said that I don't know why anyone should feel ashamed of lowering pitch speed though. It's your game to enjoy and is it all that important to prove that you are a great gamer? Who cares, honestly...

Re: Make me feel better about lowering the pitch speed.

I feel similarly. I don't like making things easier, I usually just practice to try to get better. My main goal was to make it moderately difficult to catch up to fireballers (95 MPH+) unless you were thinking fastball. It ended up being too difficult to hit them at all, unless they pitched a meat pitch, and then it got way worse if they had some sort of off speed pitch, for a 20 MPH or so change in speed.

After checking out the sliders thread, someone there spent the time to make a .pdf file with most everyone's sliders on it. So you can check out like 8 or so slider sets on one page. The majority have 4 for pitch speed. That's what I've gone with as well, and I'm on All-Star analog hitting. I'm getting way more realistic game results now, with this and changing the camera to angle inside.

Re: Make me feel better about lowering the pitch speed.

I have it on 0, veteran level but I seem to be hitting a lot of homeruns as of late. But at the same time I still strike out quite a bit, seem to be more caught looking now than swinging.

To Nomo.. 10?!?!?! Dang. maybe I'll play with that for the heck of it in batting practice
