I'd bet that if there is a "package" from Sony the Vita version will be a download.

Sure it saves them a little of the money they'd be losing, and gives the added bonus of getting people to use up space on those expensive MC's, and some people may pass if they want a physical copy.

Our locally owned video game store closed its doors a few months back. Their prices were actually very competitive on older titles, but lack of name recognition and the fact that Gamestop is located a half mile down the street kept them from keeping their head above water.

My family also generally gives me Gamestop gift cards on holidays and birthdays, so for all intents and purposes, The Show doesn't usually cost me anything.

I'm all about supporting local business. In this town, locally owned translates to people I actually know. But I also like to put gas in my car and take my girlfriend out on occasion, so I have to go where the deals are. And it doesn't get much better than essentially free.

A couple years back, I was price checking Medal of Honor for my father. Amazon mowed down the competition, saving me well over $20. For 20 bucks, how could a working class guy like me justify supporting my friends and aquaintances? It's a shame, but I have to do what I have to do sometimes. And unfortunately, I'm not alone. It was a nice game store, but they just couldn't stay competitive enough across the board to rally around a big enough consumer base.

There's only so many people interested in buying rare Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis games these days, which that store thought would be their niche.

To me this makes the most sense, and I hope it turns out this way. I suppose I'd rather have the physical copy, but if they were to package a digi copy of the Vita version with the PS3 version for around $80 or so I'd be all over it.

Hell, I'd be all over it for most sports titles that I buy every year just to have the ability to continue franchises, etc on the go.

They do those DVD/Blu Ray/Digi combo packs for movies, Portal 2 did the PS3/PC combo, even comic books are getting in on the physical/digital combo business so why not games?

Yeah, it's going to be hard to sell the digital copy since it takes away the trade-in abilities. I haven't looked but when you download it, where is it stored on the Vita?

It stores on your memory card.

I've done a complete 180 on digital download vs. physical since I got the machine. Swapping the tiny game cards in the corded port is a royal PITA. I've even forgone the 2-for-1 sales just to have all my games from here forward downloaded on my 32 GB card. When I run out of space there it's a snap to copy them to/from a Mac or PC.

I'd LOVE a discount on the digital VITA version when purchasing the PS3 version but I no doubt will be picking up both anyway...

HA! Same here....I'm passing up on the buy 2 get one free sales as well. I thought I'd never be a digital only gamer, but for handhelds I might be. When I tried the Vita at Best Buy, just going into different games and how quick it was....it was just so refreshing. So easy and fast.

as far as the thread topic. I think they are trying to decide how they can do a discount promotion that doesn't get abused. Meaning, the original PS3 buyer is the one who will download the Vita version.

I hope so...like I said before, if they figure that out they sold $300 (system and memory card if I dont get 3G version) to me.
