Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread

I hit the end of July in my Tigers franchise. Playing on All Star hitting with timing, and Legend pitching using classic interface.

The Tigers are 84-23, currently 31.5 games up on the Royals (52-54). Pitching has been superb all season long, though Rick Porcello just went on the 15 day DL due to a shoulder problem. He should only miss a couple weeks though.

Justin Verlander has already won 20 games (20-1, 1.98) and leads the league in strikeouts (209 in 168 innings). Doug Fister and Max Scherzer have 14 wins each, and Anibal Sanchez has 10.

Miguel Cabrera is having another superb year (.318, 35 HR, 94 RBI) Prince Fielder is hitting .281, 28 HR, 83 RBI. But the surprise of the season is rookie shortstop Kyle Dutcher (myself, created) who is hitting a robust .375, 40 HR, 107 RBI, while swiping 49 bases. Dutcher alternated between shortstop and left field to start the season, but has now settled in as the starting shortstop, with the struggling Jhonny Peralta (.228, 6 HR, 19 RBI) relegated to a backup role.

The Tigers made one deal at the trade deadline, acquiring left fielder Mike Morse from the Seattle Mariners, in exchange for prospects Ryan Dunne (SP) and Alex Croix (CF), both A potential. Morse was hitting around .280 with 19 HR and 62 RBI with the Mariners. This move pushes Andy Dirks to a back up role.

There are links to the league standings, and the Full Tiger statistics in my signature.

Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread

Just finished the first month of the season with the Los Angeles Angels and what a month it was. The Angels finished with a 17-10 record (Home 8-4, Road 9-6) which is only good enough for 3rd place in AL West!

Josh Hamilton had a spectacular month and is a serious threat for the triple crown (.374, 9hr, 24rbi). M.Trumbo had a great month as well with 13 hr's and 29 rbi's. And the surprise of the season has to be P.Bourjos who is hitting a solid .337 with 22 rbi's. M.Trout has gotten off to a slow start at the plate but has began to heat up of late and is currently the AL leader is stolen bases with a perfect 14 of 14. Overall the team has averaged an incredible 6.04 runs per game and is on pace to set a franchise record for runs in a season with 978. C.Iannetta has been in a slump all year long and recently H.Kendrick has joined him.

The pitching, especially 2-4 of the rotation, has equalled the offense. C.Wilson, J.Vargas, T.Hanson have combined for a 10-4 record with a 2.17 ERA. The back of the rotation has not even come close to being servicable as the combination of J.Williams/J.Blanton have not produced a quality start in 6 tries. J.Weaver has been good but got roughed up in his last outing. The back of the bullpen has been sensational as S.Downs/E.Frieri/R.Madson have combined for a 2-0 record with a 1.03 ERA with a perfect 8 for 8 in saves attempts. As long as the starters can make it to the end of the bullpen their lead is safe. If they don't last past the 5th things get dicey as the middle relievers have a combined 7.21 ERA.

Here is a look at the statistics thru the 1st month of the season.

Beyond the Box Score

Jeremy Hellickson just took over the game. His curveball was giving me fits, and I couldn't stop chasing the ball in the dirt. Manny Machado who was called back up yesterday was abysmal. Had an error and an 0-4 to go with it. Didn't like to production at 2B so I moved JJ Hardy there, Manny is at SS and Danny Valencia mans the hot corner for now. Chen got touched up a bit gave up a 3 run home run to Myers. Oh and Hellickson got A LOT of help from the ump of his 10Ks 4 were called on pitches well out of the strike zone. Very frustration game, as the loss slid me into a tie with Toronto for tops in the AL East. The Yankees sit 3.5 games back and Boston is only 4 back.

Last game of the series is Miguel Gonzalez (5-5 2.58) vs Chris Archer (3-1 3.51).

Looks like you should up the sliders, my friend. Playing .843 ball and with your worst hitters at .327 and .340 it doesn't seem to be very challenging for you. I mean, even your P is batting over .300.

I kind of thought the same thing myself but then I realized you play the game for the reasons you want to play. Most people are into sim style play but others like winning. To each his own.

I have adjusted the sliders slightly but at the same time I like to win lol. Against the betters teams the games are much closer but when I play Miami, Houston, Chicago Cubs there are more blowouts. I have my hitting down at 4's and the Computers hitting at 7's
