They have said many times that Matty V isn't going anywhere. Not sure why this convo comes up every year when they have made it clear they are keeping him.

Plus Matty V works for MLB network, so it makes zero sense that he would be replaced due to the MLB Network package.

Plus the new dynamic commentary in NBA 2K games is a prime example to nullify your last point! There is always room for improvement, especially when we had one guy on commentary for a huge number of years.
I have no idea about the NBA 2K part since I don't play it, but you're incorrect on the other point. I'm one of those people who understood the player models needed improving and said as much. But, I was also one of the people who didn't feel the need to agenda post that all over the entire forum like some other people did. I think my most recent comment about faces was about how Tanaka's new face rendering looked too dark, actually.

I don't know what to tell you other than people can actually like a feature (or several features) of this game without being a fan boy. I just don't understand the complain for the sake of complaining POV that can be popular around here at times. Certainly some people have legitimate reasons for wanting to replace Vasgersian, but I am 99% confident that any pbp replacement would be worse--especially in the first few years of building a new audio library.

Re: MLB Network Presentation Confirmed For MLB The Show 17

As a guy who relies on sound a lot (sound is my graphics, being visually impaired) Wow, that sounded cool! Anyway, here's my take: Matty V is amazing on tv yes, and there is know reason why he cannot do the same when recording his lines. I can sit here and say the exact same lines he does, but with so much more excitement, it would blow your mind. I don't know why he can't "get into it," maybe I can do it so well, because being visually impaired, I don't need the "live game" in front of me to do pbp. The only thing I can think of that holds him back is he's not a good voice actor, in other words, he can't do it on command, he needs to have a live game in front of him. I'm the type of person who can do voice impressions of any baseball broadcaster, the first time I hear them, so maybe that's why I can do exciting pbp on command. Jon Miller is an amazing voice actor, which is why he was so good in 2k. That's my take! btw, here's a sample of my favorite baseball broadcast impression I do, this is a call to mlb xm some years ago, impression at the end. Enjoy guys! http://yourlisten.com/manuel.aguero....live-on-xm-mlb

This is the nature of video game commentary.
Well lets be honest, Vasgersian has had this gig for 11 years now. Eleven years.

My opinion is this: Matty V is one of the much better PBP guys in real life. However, its simply gotten to a point where, for me, the staleness of continuing to have him do PBP for a decade is the only thing that puts this great franchse into the "Bland and outdated" category, if you will.

Literally every other aspect of this game is near perfect! I've been playing this franchise since the beginning; been a day one purchase for me every year and I've enjoyed Vasgersian's contributions over the years. But at some point I think you ask yourself how this game can take the next step to become a new, refreshing series. Im not bashing Matty V I love the guy but cmon now... its just been more of the same since basically 2006. Need some new blood!

Fair enough, but Scully did it for 67 years and people weren't calling for something new. Video game or real life, if someone's good at calling a game, there isn't really a need to replace them after X number of years just because it's been X number of years. There are alternatives like adding/removing certain lines and changing the frequency of some of the older ones. Being paired with new color analysts might also help since virtual Vasgersian is absolutely carrying virtual Steve Lyons and virtual Eric Karros so comprehensively that it seems like a 1-man booth.

Even if I were sick of Vasgersian in the game, I don't see an improvement on the horizon. There is a glaring lack of baseball pbp talent on national TV network broadcasts these days. I mean, Joe Buck? Ernie Johnson? LOL

I also don't think the majority of Show gamers want a "new, refreshing series" because they quite like the direction and features of the current one. It would be interesting to see a poll on this and I bet "keep Vasgersian" would beat "get rid of Vasgersian" by a 2-1 margin. It's just the "get rid of him" crowd is usually louder about it.

Lets make that happen!

I'm advocating new play by play guy or at least redo all his lines. The delivery needs to change!
