Keeping the legacy going

Running a 30 team CFM.

Does anyone edit some prospects to a legends son? Like I drafted an OF for the Cubs in 1 of the first 2 years and the kid named Jack Holcomb turned out to be a stud right out of the gate. Like 75 overall. It popped in my head it be neat if he was say, Barry Bonds kid. So i named him Byron Bonds. His attributes are a hitting monster. I did not edit his attributes just his name. He's a complete hitter. Good contact and power with above average vison and discipline.

My Mariners drafted a CF who had A potential. His name was Rick Brunson. Thought it be fun to carry the Griffey legacy for another generation and made Ken Griffey III. A different player than his father, he is all contact and little power but he does have blazing speed and defensive attributes.

Does anyone else do this?

Re: Keeping the legacy going

I honestly have never thought to do this as I just continue to update my carryover franchise with the newest draft selections and international signings, but I think I'm going to steal this idea!

I make it a point to add in sons/kin of players that are in baseball in real life (Bichette, Guerrero, Biggio, Clemens, Matheny, etc...) but have never thought to do this with the likes of Griffey, Bonds, McGwire, etc....

Yeah...I'm definitely stealing your idea!!!

Now instead of working, I will be making a list of sons/kin of major league greats that are going to be added to my franchise.

Re: Keeping the legacy going

Been playing the game for years and with the likes of Acuna, Vlad Jr, Bichette, Biggio and Clemens all in the big leagues or minors, it was a fun thought. Going to go through some pitchers to see who I could rename. Ill post a pic of Byron Bonds and KGIII in a few.

It just brings a bit more fun into the game for me

Re: Keeping the legacy going

Yeah I've added the likes Mariano Rivera Jr, Vlad Jr, Bichette, Biggio, Clemens, Gwynn, Matheny, Cameron, Gibson, and Conine to the game but never thought to make "false" sons/kin of major league greats.

I've started a list...

Griffey
Bonds
Glavine
Maddux
Will Clark

Thinking of more....

Re: Keeping the legacy going

Tony Gwynn has a real son playing in baseball.

I'm thinking about adding Pete Rose to the list.

Thing is I don't want to get carried away and start adding a bunch of players, but damn this is a great idea!

How many are in your franchise, just the two?

Re: Keeping the legacy going

Hmm. Prob wont add in Gwynn then. Pete Rose qould be a good one to add in

And yeah, just the two. Probably make a rule to limit myself. 1 a year possibly or wait until a prospect comes in that warrents it, say 74 overall +

Yeah I've got to set some parameters here or I'll be adding in a boat load of players.
