Well, personally, and it may not be a popular opinion, I am not sure CAP has any purpose being in DD. The only reason I can think of is that it creates a market for people to purchase equipment. I can't believe that there are not enough real players to fill out the roster.

Yeah that’s a whole other can of worms. I’ve always said the CAP has no place in that mode because it’s so cheesy.

What I noticed in the stills was stuff like, "These are the hardest to train."* Meaning, you may be able to get to 99 OVR, but you'll have to work hard at it.* And I think that is as it should be.
We'll see more in a couple of days, but this is getting pretty darn close to "shut up and take my money" territory.* More environments, more off-the-field activity, and a better supporting cast, all should REALLY amp up the world-building.

They could have just made archetype's semi-customizable, or have a seperate option or mode for those that want no caps.

This dev team used to pride themselves on options for every play type. They seem to be getting away from that.

We used to have the option to turn off all indicators (red glow around the ball, base running graphic, etc), which would allow us to play with a clean screen. They just keep adding more interfaces now (ball off the wall indicator) which probably won’t be optional.

RTTS blog post is up: https://blog.us.playstation.com/2019...-the-best-yet/

First order of business: there are no attribute caps in MLB The Show 19. That’s right — if you want to be a baseball god, it’s now possible… but it won’t be easy. Archetypes have been retooled, and the choices represent how your player approaches the game. Each archetype determines how quickly you progress in certain attributes.
The bolded is exactly what I wanted to hear. I'm all for the archetype system so long as I'm able to break through soft caps if I earn it.

I just hope that when I make a OF, and the manager suggest I try 1st base that I actually get to go back into the outfield. It's so sad and 1b is the least entertaining position in rtts..I started him in mlb 17 as a RF, which changed forever 3 months in to my career.
I carried him over to 18.. and ready to carry over to 19. I reached the majors in my first year in September call ups (2017)
And have a save set up for the start of the 2019 season.

91 ovr 1B
I did have 82 & 83 power but the cap system on 18' nerfed them down to 73-72.

Would like to get back in the outfield though I have a 94 arm strength and 85 react & fielding and living the dream as a gold glove 1B (facepalm)

I HATE, HATE, HATE that crap. It would make me quit. When I choose a position in RTTS it is usually because it is a new position for me. If I have already spent large amounts of time playing other positions previously then I don't want to be forced to go back to them.

It is another case of realism getting in the way of fun.

And I don't think it was foolish. There was a very vocal blowback to the Archetype system and new training. Many of us when back to RTTS in previous versions. I think they underestimated how many of us played RTTS and was fine with it being a more arcade version of the game, where we could create our players and become the GOAT in every category. It may be dumb to some but I don't want to be restricted in my single player modes.
Seems like an easy fix would to be just add a cap on/off toggle on the archetype screen when creating your player.

Doubt they do it.
