Pitches in the dirt

Is anyone else annoyed by the fact that the AI reacts instantly to pitches in the dirt, while the player faces a delay.

As soon as the ball hits the dirt, AI runners take off, regardless of speed. Sometimes, I’m able to recover and throw them out. Other times, not so much.

This has been a problem in this game for years and it’s hard to believe it hasn’t been fixed.

Re: Pitches in the dirt

I've had runners stay put when I put one in the dirt and I've also been able to throw them out at times depending on their speed, the catcher, and where the ball gets to.

Not seeing anything in my experience that I would consider an issue.

Re: Pitches in the dirt

my biggest gear-grinder regarding dirt pitches is
one, I can't not swing at 'em,
and two, I can't hit 'em when I do swing at 'em

Used to be the case in MLB20 and before but since then MLB21 i saw many times what you just described. Think they probably entered the catcher’s arm & reaction in the equation instead of just the runner speed.

@bobeureally27 , what’s your catcher arm,reaction rating ?

Not sure, but it’s Christian Vazquez, so…good ratings.

This threads was prompted by me throwing out runners in consecutive innings. Ons of them was Cedric Mullins, which I can understand, but the other was a slower runner who had no business trying to advance.

Sometimes I have that problem as well, and not one damn 7 iron in the bat rack either.

I should, after all, he is still under contract until 2037, basically lol

also, what I really need is a visual cue that a particular pitch is most likely dirt-bound
