You must go to ALL PLAYERS list on your roster, find the guy you want, select trade with another team and find team when he is. Click on himself on that team and there should be two same guys on this team. If you have space for another player off course.

You should ask in 2k17 thread but i think duplicate is one of a new options in 2k18, so probably it doesn't work in 2k17.
