You’re talking about the arena names being on the courts? I’m almost certain that’s just a licensing thing, not a mistake. In past 2Ks, the Historic Teams have tended to play in generic buildings like Warriors Arena or Bucks Arena. Maybe there are cases where they’ve been able to secure licensing and have added those decals, or have secured licensing to have the arena’s name in the game but haven’t updated the court yet (or maybe don’t have rights to the historic logo).

Whatever the case, the point is that missing arena branding is for the most part not a mistake or oversight, it’s the generic, legally safe norm, whereas the addition of arena branding wherever possible represents an improvement that we should be thanking 2K for. It’s inevitable that it will always be patchy by default, just as the modern NBA arenas are (see Knicks Arena and Celtics Arena).

Ultimately, when it comes to matters of licensing / permissions, I just think it makes more sense to be thankful for what they can secure (particularly in terms of obscure historic stuff) rather than being bitter about what they can’t.

I don’t fully understand what you’re saying here. I think that 2K wants you to avail yourself of community mods wherever you feel they offer an improved experience, including to Eras on 2K25. 2K24 on PC actually added an official Mods folder to drop your downloads into, and it’s likely to be back for 2K25.

Well it’s also possible for NBC to air Olympic trampolining as part of their core TV coverage, but they never will. Trampolining superfans could complain and complain for 20 years and it wouldn’t matter in the slightest; they’d still have to download the Peacock app or tune into the Hallmark Channel or whatever at 3am to watch 15 minutes of this amazing sport that has so much potential.

At some point you have to recognize that you’re part of a niche and adapt accordingly.

Again, “fair” is irrelevant. The limitations in this case are logistical, not technical, same as with NBC and Olympic trampolining. • If you prioritize competitive online play and you are playing NBA 2K on PC or Switch, you will not experience the game at its best and you will have significant complaints (that PS5 & XSX users don’t have or have much less of).
• If you prioritize the single-player NBA “sim” experience and you are playing NBA 2K on anything other than PC, you will not experience the game at its best and you will have significant complaints (that PC users don’t have or have much less of).

This is true whenever PC has the latest edition of the game (and arguably even when it doesn’t, but that comes down to what you prioritize within the single-player NBA “sim” experience).

For the record, I think 2K’s priorities are fair, since IMO they should reflect the priorities of those spending money on the game, and those folks are very disproportionately interested in other modes over MyNBA / Eras.

But like I said, it doesn’t really matter. It is what it is. The best that one can do is be an informed consumer and use the platform that fits your priorities.

Although this game is called NBA, 2k sports must understand that first and foremost it's a basketball game, and basketball is international. Millions of non Americans buy this game.In nba 2k15 there were officially licensed EUROLEAGUE teams. Since then the gap closed even further and even the nba commissioner is now in talks with fiba about expanding in Europe.
So, my gripe with 2k sports is that it seems illogical to me to invest more in the W than in euroleague. Because NBA and euroleague are connected, exchanging players and coaching tactics back and forth and almost a third of the nba comes from euroleague and thousands of American players play in European and international basket leagues.
NBA is huge because of the international interest which grows when international players join the nba.If 2k sports had open minded people, people with respect to their costumers, they would try to make this game more I ternational.
PS. Please, make the USA anthem optional. I created a Greek league.

Why can’t you make your argument without involving the W? You’re kinda contradicting yourself seeing how international play has a large presence in the W also. You know, the sister league to the NBA..

This WOULD be a licensing thing IF they didnt have the correct court for the early 90s in 2002. Now unless its paperwork that prevents them from changing it, then sure I get it. But you literally have the correct court with branding in the Historical Changes in 2002-03 instead of it being in the 80s.

There are plenty of teams that dont have the court licensing but have courts in there. I dont think we care too much on the "America West Arena" branding to be in the game.. but man can we get the "Generic" court like how other teams have ?
