It's better this year than previous. SGA is probably difficult to animate because his set shot and step back (more of a push) is very different to his midrange and pull up J.

Re: NBA 2K25 Official Roster/Ratings Analysis Thread (Yearlong)

Whirlwind Weekend for me - haven't missed box score of a game yet this season so let's catch up

11/22 Games

SIXERS
Despite no Embiid or George, Beat Nets 113-98
McCain: 30 pts (11-20 FG, 6-11 3PT), 39 mins
Maxey: 26 pts (11-17 FG, 3-6 3PT)
Yabusele (GS): 10 pts, 11 rebs, 31 mins (Embiid DNP)
Oubre (GS): 11 pts, 9 rebs (George DNP)

McCain's performance firmly cements his 83 OVR status. Now averaging 27 PPG and 5 APG in 5 games as a starter.

NETS
Cam Johnson: Season-high 37 pts (14-21 FG, 9-13 3PT), Career-highs in FGM/3PM
Cam Thomas: 18 pts (6-15 FG), 7 asts, 7 Turnovers (use him as a McCain measuring stick)
Simmons: 2 pts (1-4 FG), 4 rebs, 4 asts, 26 mins (No Revenge game)

One point off Johnson's career high.
Last 3 games: 31 PPG, 60 FG%, 59 3PT% (19-32 3PT)

---------------------------------

CELTICS
Beat Wizards 108-96
Brown: 31 pts, 11 rebs, 5 asts (11-27 FG, 3-13 3PT)
Tatum: 16 pts, 9 rebs, 8 asts (6-19 FG, 0-10 3PT) - RIP 3PT%

Rough shooting night for the Celtics (43 FG%, 23 3PT%), but they'd need to shoot 10% to lose to the Wizards.

WIZARDS
Poole: 23 pts, 8 asts
Kuzma: 23 pts
Brogdon: 18 pts, 10 rebs, 1 ast (7-13 FG, 1-1 3PT) - Starting SG
Carrington off bench: 2 pts (0-5 FG), 22 mins

Perhaps haven't made clear the significance before but a lot of roster work is lineups and positions (especially in today's game where positions are much less rigid). So while things like "Brogdon (GS)" might seem innocuous logging, they're pretty relevant data points as to the big picture stuff like team direction & structure.

----------------------------------

WARRIORS
Beat Pelicans 112-108
Wiggins: 30 pts (9-14 FG, 3-5 3PT, 9-9 FT)
Curry: 19 pts, 7 rebs, 7 asts

PELICANS
Murphy: 24 pts (9-17 FG, 5-9 3PT)
Ingram: 18 pts, 7 asts
Elfrid Payton (GS): 4 pts, 4 asts, 3 stls, 26 mins
Javonte Green (GS at SG): 15 pts (6-9 FG) - He's the OG poor man's Herb Jones
Boston Jr off bench: 16 pts, 7 asts, 35 mins
Robinson-Earl: 19 pts, 12 rebs (7-11 FG) - Missi DNP in this one
Hawkins return off bench: 6 pts (2-9 FG), 20 mins
Reeves: 1 point (0-5 FG) - Big ouch to his value

Hawkins will probably return to the starting lineup shortly.
The combo of Hawkins return + this shooting night hurts Antonio Reeves chances of earning more minutes.

---------------------

BULLS
Beat Hawks 126-122
LaVine: 26 pts (11-18 FG)
White: 20 pts, 9 asts
Dosunmu (GS): 20 pts
Giddey (GS at PF): 18 pts, 6 rebs, 8 asts (8-10 FG) - Williams DNP
Vucevic: 18 pts, 13 rebs, 4 blks

Extremely relevant game for Giddey here, not from performance but positionally. He could supplant Patrick Williams as the starter given his struggles. I had Giddey as OKC's PF last season because that was more what he played on defense.

Ayo Dosnumu probably gives the team more on both ends than Patrick Williams, so going with the small-ball lineup is probably their best bet. There's no saving this team defensively regardless of who the 4 is.

HAWKS
Trae: 25 pts, 13 asts
Johnson: 25 pts, 13 rebs, 5 asts
Capela: 21 pts (10-14 FG), 11 rebs
Daniels: 8 pts (3-14 FG), 4 stls
Risacher: 4 pts, 3 fouls, 16 mins
Hunter: 14 pts off bench
Bogdanovic: 16 pts off bench

Hawks have some good pop on the wings off the bench, but could really use something from the minutes they're gifting Risacher.

----------------------------

ROCKETS
Blowout Blazers 116-88
Brooks: 28 pts (10-15 FG, 6-8 3PT)
Eason: 22 pts, 22 mins off bench
Amen: 10 pts, 11 rebs, 4 asts, 3 stls, 2 blks, 24 mins

BLAZERS
Simons return (GS): 8 pts (2-7 FG) - Scoot DNP
Sharpe: 13 pts (3-9 FG)
Clingan: 9 pts, 7 rebs, 2 blks, 4 fouls, 15 mins (Ayton DNP)

------------------------

BUCKS
Beat Pacers 129-117
Giannis: 37 pts, 10 rebs, 11 asts (14-21 FG, 9-11 FT)
Dame: 24 pts, 13 asts
Trent off bench: 18 pts (6-10 3PT) - been saying for awhile but he's back
Portis: 17 pts off bench

PACERS
Siakam: 25 pts, 8 rebs
Mathurin: 20 pts, 9 rebs
Haliburton: 18 pts, 9 asts
Quenton Jackson (GS): 9 pts (3-6 FG), 22 mins

Not sure if I missed a game because Jackson had 24 pts (10-12 FG) in his first start vs HOU and I have no recollection of this lol (but it's also been a crazy week for me). Either way Jackson as a poor man's Nembhard is probably better than what they were getting out of Sheppard.

---------------------

MAVS
Beat Nuggets 123-120
Washington: 22 pts, 13 rebs
Kyrie (GS at PG): 19 pts, 6 asts - Luka DNP
Grimes (GS at SG): 14 pts
Marshall off bench: Season-high 26 pts (11-15 FG)

NUGGETS
Jokic return: 33 pts, 17 rebs, 10 asts (Triple Double #7)
Murray: 14 pts (4-16 FG), 11 asts
Porter: 17 pts
Braun: 17 pts
Watson: 15 pts
Westbrook: 16 pts

--------------------------

CLIPPERS
Beat Kings 104-88
Harden: 22 pts, 9 asts
Jones: 17 pts
Zubac: 10 pts, 15 rebs
Coffey (GS): 11 pts (Powell DNP again)

KINGS
Fox: 29 pts, 7 rebs, 7 asts
Sabonis: 24 pts, 15 rebs
DeRozan: 16 pts (6-19 FG)
Murray: 10 pts
Rest of Team: 9 pts

Re: NBA 2K25 Official Roster/Ratings Analysis Thread (Yearlong)

I think something needs to be said about Ben Simmons.

His stat line does not jump out at 5, 6.5, & 5. This partially because his minutes are way down, but his defense has been 1st Team level so far.

When he is on the court he takes on the biggest perimeter threat most of the time and forces them into taking a ridiculous amount of bad shots.

He's at about 2 and 1/2 turnovers a game. But from what I see that is because his teammates are not used to his passing yet, which is also elite. He's Lebron level fast in transition. I think what's they are used to playing with him, The Nets will be even more fun to watch than they are now.

I don't know if they will give him Defensive player of the year because that is more of a stat thing now, but his Defense is on that level. Again, he should be First Team for sure alongside Dort from OKC & Wemby.

Simmons' production hasn't really changed much over the last 3 years. He's averaged only 25 MPG over the last 3 years, this is just who he is now. He's a higher profile version of Jonathan Isaac.

He doesn't play anywhere near enough to win DPOY (much less make a Defensive team).

Defenses definitely don't fear him / gameplan around him the way they do Wembanyama or Gobert.
