NBA 2K for a Basketball newbie?

Teach me FIFA. I'll teach you 2K IMO, the rules of basketball are easier to pick up than soccer. But then I've been playing basketball since I was a child.

Best way to learn any sport is to watch it (even as I say this, I'm afraid to watch soccer)!Then use the 2K training camp to learn the controls. Then you'll develop your own style as you watch games.

Note: some ppl who play 2K clearly don't watch basketball at all. And it shows.

Thank you for all the help. I understand the rules, I just get confused with all the individual moves and when to do them. I think I will get the game and give training mode a chance

I guess it had something to do with servers being down or something because now I have a whole ton of new options. Now I have online mode, roster creator, etc. You can now create your own rosters and use them in the GM mode...had me worried for a second. They also have historical teams you can use and put them in the GM mode. Can't express how awesome it is to play as the '95 sonics and boot the Blunder out of the NW division.

I was in the same boat, however I have started watching NBA games a little prior to picking up 2K, and I am loving this game. If you are interested in it, and play other sports tittles, then you can't go wrong as this is a great sports tittle. PM me for a PSN if you want, maybe we can bounce ideas around, or hit the park and grow some skills!

I was in use same position as you when nba 2k12 came out, I didn't know too much about basketball and had never played a basketball game. After a few weeks I'd learned the controls and gradually got better at it. Now I can't wait for the ps4 to come out on the 29th so that I can play next gen 2k.

Well. I knew close to nothing before buying 2k11. Learned by playing the game. Can call myself pretty darn knowledgeable about the NBA.

They made this game for people like you, this whole game is catered so people with absolutely no previous experience drop 50+ with LBJ in your first game. It's skill gaping.
