Go pick up live and come back and thank your lucky stars you're not stuck with that craptastic game.
These "kids", I assume you meant me but aight, want 2K to pay better attention to how easy it is to play fake ball and win.

I just spent the past 4 hours playing real basketball like I do every day, doesn't mean I come on 2K to play NBA jam, if I wanted that I'd play NBA Jam.

I played Live, it's terrible...like I said this game is the best basketball game I've ever played, it's the players that ruin it.

It shouldn't be that hard to tune the steals down, and draw charges at the three point line. It shouldn't be hard to make sure players like Robert Parish are out-boarded by guards.

People have all-gold lineups that should never work; I just played a team with Gerald Green at point, then Kobe, Lebron, Paul George, and Ibaka.
I have Joe Dumars, Byron Scott, Dr. J, Luol Deng, and Robert Parish.
My team actually has an identity, I actually built my team and try playing the right way, but somehow the other team actually works.

The main problem to me is on-ball defense. Idk if it's the lag, or just how the game is, but I can barely stay in front of people and I refuse to play off ball d, because again that's just too lame to me.

Did you read the thread title, or the first post?

it's not the game it's the players. and 2k cant do anything about this.

I dont play on line, so I have no complaints, but I feel your pain.
How many other people avoid playing online altogether because of the type of "basketball" that is played.

I would say 2k at least somewhat cares about sim given the depth of just the playbooks and play assignments, let alone everything else, but it all gets lost online where the main type of ball you find is, well, the type of ball that this person is avoiding.

IMO, offline, 2k14 is the best to date

I think, at the very least, on this point we can all agree.

Realistic? Haha.

Lets be real here. 2K is where they are because Live is out of business and all those cheese heads that played Live had to come to 2K cause there was nothing else out there. IMO, 2K has been on a downwards trend since 2K11. 2K7-2K11 was a great improvement. Now they've just become stagnant. You see where Madden is and how they cater to the simheads right? 2K can do whatever they wanna do because at the end of the day, we're still going to buy the game. And if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Why cater to the simheads? Simheads aren't going to spend $80 to have an All-Gold team pack or whateverthehell MyTeam calls it. And to be quite frank, everyone thinks they're a simhead. The word sim gets thrown out so loosely now, it's lost it's meaning. Hell, I'm the only person I know that runs set plays in online ranked matches... have that mug set on auto with play vision on full.

The problem is people come on here to play 2K and not basketball. The hoopers are out there. The simheads are out there. I for one, am one of them. And if you want another hooper to hoop with, and a whole community of people that play real basketball and sports for that matter, my gt is d11king.

EDIT: I will say this though. I can't really hold anything against 2K for 2K14 on next-gen simply due to the short timing they had. But 2K15, with all the things they are able to do on next-gen now and having somewhat of a foundation, 2K15 better blow every basketball game ever released to date out of the water.

Lol you can't call yourself a sim player if you don't run plays, I don't think people understand that. I know a lot of times I have to abandon playing like that just to hit a few cheesy three's just get back into a game while the other guys turbo'ing into the paint with Jordan constantly.

I just won a close game like that and I don't understand why players don't lose a lot more stamina when they hit contact layups or dunks? I know from real-life experience that you get a lot more tired doing that then just shooting 3's...

Realism is hard in video games, but with the right slider set tuned to your liking you can make the game very challenging

Even if they tuned the game folks would still play the same way.
Make or miss folks would still hoist up a lot of three's, still drive to the basket with Lebron, and still spam the steal button.

Would you venture online more if the games were 100% sim (ie: running plays, letting said plays develop, ball distribution, etc.)?

When playing against the ai, it can be, but you are right and the sliders really help re-create a pretty accurate real life ball game.

When playing against other ppl, it should be easy to play realistic ball, unfortunately, it's not nearly as common place as one would think given the game we are discussing is and nba game...

Set the online difficulty to HOF and leave it there.
