I also don't think a lot of you realize how difficult it is to make a basketball game that not only looks good but plays well too. I'd say basketball is probably one of, if not the toughest of the sports games to make.

Not to get off topic but I hear it a lot how much better 2K11 and 2K12 are still...go back and play them today and really focus on player movement and how it plays, 2K15 has made leaps and bounds since then.

They are on the right track, I don't think there "engine" needs to change, it just needs tweaking and improvement. There are a lot of good pieces to the foundation here, let's not knock it over and rebuild completely.

Plus I hear they are working on the post game animations and gameplay, VERY excited about that.

i agree. there is a great foundation. all i'm saying is some of the windows, walls, and doors need to be upgraded as well as some improvements to the kitchen. i also want a bay window so i can look out and see the comp trying to catch up.

There is a reason they haven't "catched up" when they started off in the lead anyway.

Too many of us just refuse to acknowledge that

I'm not exactly sure what you're looking for to be honest.

I'm all for bball getting all the attention but what exactly are you getting at
im getting at the fact that you can look at many aspects: rebounding/boxing out, on-ball defense, incidental contact, off-ball movement, pick and roll interaction, driving player interactions at the rim and not find any tech that separates this generation from the last.

There is no dynamic jostling for the boards where strength and size or quickness matters. on-ball defense is still based on staying in-front of your man instead of using angles to stay between your man and the rim. I could continue but i think you may get the point....

There may be issues you have with the game that can improve but to say they've not added any new tech is false.

If things could've been done on last gen they would've done it but we all know last gen got maxed out and everyone knew it by the time it came. It was more polished at that time but yeah it wasn't on the same level tech wise.

Also while I agree a lot of things can be worked on and I'm sure they're touching things, I think 2k makes a lot of things look really easy when they're not and it goes unappreciated.

You're reaching. No where can you quote me in saying "2k hasnt added any new tech."

I was very clear. The things they've added come across as things they could add with additional space the systems provided vs an innovative tech only this generation of consoles can process.

I think 2k makes things look easy because of their magnificent animation system, its buttery smooth and has a high capacity; something the competition cant boast. That said i honestly think its been a crutch to some extent.

There's no such thing as "innovative tech only this generation of consoles can process". "Next-gen" consoles are simply last-gen consoles with faster CPUs and GPUs that don't even approach high end PCs from years ago. Most of the innovation you see now in next-gen games are almost entirely in the animation and graphical department-- something 2K already lead when the first next-gen games were released-- and much of this has been possible for years, just with trade offs in other areas to keep a game running smoothly.

The problems we see in 2K and the advancements we desire aren't so much issues unlocked by better hardware as they are long standing computer science challenges in simulating realtime human biodynamics and AI behavior in a dynamic sport that are still difficult and haven't been fully solved yet. More powerful hardware helps, but it's an issue of iterative development when already leading in their field-- not because 2K has somehow failed to take advantage of magical innovative features next-gen consoles unlock.

2K could certainly stand to improve by advancing AI and how physics and captured animations interact-- but this was never really solely a next-gen vs last-gen problem.

I dont know if you meant the statement that 'there is no such tech in existence' to be literal when you follow it with the statement that graphical achievements on the ps4 have been possible on the previous generation of consoles.

maybe you're speaking semantically and referencing dedicated tech demos rendering a single character at a time, essentially leaving that capability useless. But even then i would disagree. The ps3 "kara" tech demo doesn't look as good as the Lebron 2k14 ps4 commercial by my estimation.

Even if your point is that the improvement is marginal, i would still argue that a real-time physics engine running simultaneously with the games other process would be a leap even if a solitary tech demo was possible on the ps3.

yeah i remember those days. when live was video bball cr@ck. i remember the changing of the guard too. 2k came out and my live playing days were over because 2k had everything i kept wanting in live, but year after year i stopped seeing things in the game not being "in the game" so it was an easy move just like football.
