There's apparently some logic built into the game that automatically realigns divisions when a team moves to a new location. I haven't tried it so I have no idea if it works as advertised, but I just wish we could do it ourselves.

Definitely! As a person who was so turned off by 2k15 to the point I gave it away and went back to 2k14, I can honestly say so far this game is the best playing 2k ever, with 2k11 in second. Just my opinion!
