The purpose of this thread is to have a space to share our collective ideas of MyPlayer playstyles that we want in the game. If we start collecting ideas early, and keep this thread civil, some of our suggestions might be in the next installment of the game.

Remember that this is an attempt to BALANCE the game while at the same time, giving everyone an opportunity to play with the type of player they want. Really think your playstyles through. Make them as detailed as possible.

Use this as an example:

Playstyle: Bruising Rebounder- A big, bruising big man that is a terror on both sides of the glass.

*Limit playstyles to 2 specializations. Use real life examples. Remember, we are going for balance and realism*

Real life examples: Andre Drummond(provide a video if you feel the need to, like for players that a lot of people might not know about)

Height restrictions: 6'9-6'11(willing to listen to examples of taller bigmen that played a similar style)

Weight restrictions: 280 lbs minimum

Speed restrictions: 65 max speed/acceleration

Strength restrictions: 99 max strength

Rebound rating restrictions: 99 off rebound max, 99 def rebound max, 99 boxout max, 99 hustle rating max

Defensive ratings restrictions: 85 low post defense max, 80 block/shot contest max, 80 helpside defense max, 75 pick and roll IQ max, 70 steal/passing lanes max, 50 on ball defense/lateral quickness max

Shot ratings restrictions: 75 close shot max, 65 mid range shot max, 75 FT max, 25 3pt max, 65 layup max

Dunk restrictions: 85 standing dunk max, 75 driving dunk max, 70 contact dunk max, 70 vertical max

Low post offense restrictions:85 standing layup max, 75 post control max, 80 post hook max, 65 post fade max

Ballhandling restrictions: 30 ballhandling max

Passing ratings restrictions: 50 passing IQ/accuracy max

*PLEASE BE AS STRICT AS POSSIBLE WITH BADGES. BADGES ALONE CAN MAKE A MYPLAYER OVERPOWERED SO REALLY THINK THIS THROUGH!*

Badge restrictions:

Gold: Offensive crasher, Defensive crasher, Hustle points, Scrapper, Bruiser, Brick wall

Silver: Low post defender, Eraser, Post hook specialist, Posterizer, Lob city finisher

Bronze: Drop stepper, Post spin, Interceptor, Pick pocket, Chase down specialist, Post hoperator, Dream like up and under, Break starter, Bank shot badge

Other: Spark plug, Enforcer, Beta dog, Hardened, Swagger

*If a badge isn't on the list then that means you don't want it on the player. This will prevent things like 6'2 PGs having the Brick Wall badge and bigmen from having ball handling badges.*

Feedback on other peoples' playstyles is encouraged, but please BE RESPECTFUL. This is an opportunity for us to improve the game.

I will save a space for good playstyles in the next post so all of them are easy to see.

First off, this is a good idea for a thread and also hopefully for 2k17 they go back to individual attributes instead of the bucket system.

I'll probably come back and tweak this, but this yields an 88 overall if all max attributes are achieved.

Even though gold limitless range can be a bit OP, I wouldn't mind it if it was on your sharpshooting SG.

Get rid of the bucket system, I'm actually surprised they have it since they'd make more money without it. It leads to less individuality in players in the long run, there are more player types in the NBA than "Balanced, Inside, Outside" where does a Tony Allen or prime Ak47 fall into using those definitions?


Enough of the gigantic centers too, everyone has some 7'3" 350lbs ogre that touches the top of the backboard on blocks. There's only 1 guy in the NBA that's 7'3" and he's 220lbs, if you're going to keep these enormous centers then they should be severely capped athletically, sub 50 speed, 40 lateral quickness, almost non-existent vert (Think Zydrunas Illgauskas who was 7'3").

Bronze: shot creator, pickpocket, interceptor, offensive crasher, defensive crasher, dimer, post step back pro, chasedown artist

Other obtainable: all personality badges, floor general, hardened, wildcard, fierce competitor, closer, prime-time, heart & soul, mentor, championship dna, spark plug, on court coach, road dog, cool and collected.

I've been thinking a lot about this style of player too, and while I don't have an issue with SFs being able to handle the ball I've been wondering if it would be more beneficial for player diversity to put SF slashers with PG skills in another category of player entirely.

Like a Point Forward role.

Let the athletic slashers have 99 driving layup, 99 dunk, high contact dunk, speed, vertical, and the shooting ratings you've got, but decrease their ball handling to 75 and limit their ball handling badges to bronze. Instead, they can have silver defensive badges like interceptor, pick pocket, perimeter lockdown, etc.

That way, we can make the Point Forward roll. Let them have 85 ball handling/passing ratings and silver ballhandling and passing badges(floor general included) at the cost of not having the same athleticism and speed of the athletic slasher roll(I'm thinking base athleticism maxes around 75). I think I'd even be willing to give those types of SFs 70-75 3 ball but no limitless range, deadeye, corner specialist, etc.

Other than that I agree with your SF's attributes.

I figure I'll give this one last hoorah to see if anyone is still interested. A lot of people have complained about not being able to have similar ratings to Jordan and Kobe, so I've been thinking about a balanced version of their playstyle.

Position: SG

Playstyle: Athletic Scorer- A physically gifted, all around wing scorer

Real life examples: Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, Tracy McGrady

Height restrictions: 6'5-6'8

Weight restrictions: 220 lb max

Speed restrictions: 85 max speed/acceleration

Strength restrictions: 60 max

Ryan Anderson and Patrick Patterson?...maybe I can do this one in the future. Right now I'm working on SF playstyles since it's my favorite position to play. Next one I am doing for SF will be Point Forward...it will be interesting. I think 2k should pay extra attention to this thread for next installment.

Ok cool I'm starting my Shawn Marion Esque now .

I was referring too Dirk , Love , Aldridge , Bosh , KG's run with Celtics. Right now I have a PF that's molded after Shawn Kemp. PF is one of my favorite positions

Please remove play styles, buckets and make stats relative. And have it truly affect the game. Please.


Imagine many people dumping money into each shooting category and dunking and speed. Okay but their strength will suffer, you will be able to kill them off of the dribble, and their handles may suffer.

Me in real life I play offense like a slashing point and I play defense like a 3. Pass first mentality. I get rebounds and can take you off of the dribble problem. Not the best shooter though.

Would love a base play style that you can develop how you like in practice. That would be awesome, instead of a max locked player. Think about what you think prime Jordan is and how many years he played. I think I'm prime my character already and I'm I. My 4th year.
