There's really no problem with the shot meter if it's optional. Those who still want to go by the shooting form can just turn the meter off.
The bigger thing I take issue with is that a "perfect" release is either a big boost to accuracy or even 100%. I think that adds a level of skill to the game, yes, but it's a game-y aspect that doesn't really exist in real life, IMO.
I mean, yes, shooters can hit a great release, but the stats show that even the best shooters miss open shots, too.
My ideal game would use advanced Synergy data to determine that stuff, not stick skill.
