Re: What on Earth happened to defense?
The game is too offense driven at this point. You can make some brilliant And-Ones, a beautiful step back jumper, a picture perfect drive and layup, flawless pull up jumpers but there isn't enough defensive moments that make great defenders or defensive teams stand out.
Sure, you got your Whiteside's who can block shots at will and your Westbrook's who are like defensive walls against guards but there isn't enough times where I feel like me as a user played perfect defense for a defensive stop.
If I play as a team that has a big, defensive back court, I want to feel like I'm able to clog the paint and make it tough for slashing guards to score and post players to score in the post with proper help. It would be nice to feel like playing great, mistake free defense will be rewarded. Or that a front court of great perimeter defenders will cause the 3 point % to drop due to tough defense.
As of now, everything on the defensive side is hit or miss. Sometimes playing good D means squat. Sometimes it feels like no matter what you do, no matter how good you stay in front of your man, your cpu teammates are working against you and leave a man open for a easy one. Then there are those time when the cpu will score, no if, ands or buts. Multiple offensive rebounds, player warping pass you on a drive, your user controlled player being forced into a animation that isn't in relation to the shot....ya know.
I understand there must be a balance but playing defense in this game is more luck than skill.
