If you're gonna take away the 3point shooting of someone like an LDD, then I think you gotta boost their defense even more. Or boost their abilities to set screens on offense and rebound, so they can help in other ways.

Otherwise, you're limiting them a ton on offense if they can't hit wide open shots.

It's kind of like saying offensive archetypes shouldn't be able to rebound when not boxed out or block bad shots.
The post game is nice for me . I can hit post hooks/fades . I score off alleys and cuts. Midrange is money. Corner Threes are money. I put my dribbling game up too so I can create my shot a little. I can't use any other build now.

I don't think LDD should be a thing at all. I think it causes a lot of the imbalances in the game that everyone else faces. I don't see why defense isn't just allowed for everyone. If we are doing the bucket system I don't see the prob as it isn't like it allows people to max out all the towers. If you max your D it's gonna show in all the other towers. Same if you max your 3 or Dunk. Honestly I think the bucket can maybe work but it needs to be fixed no more caps just maybe bring down the number is bars allowed total to maybe 110 and then let people do what they want. I think that will be a lot more fun for everyone while also helping create some individuality. Little jimmy can max his 3 and dunk but his D and playmaking or whatever else are gonna be poop. Bob can fill all his bars evenly and be a jack of all trades with all his stats being around 75-80 but not really being elite at anything just decent.

What's your build? I'm still building my LDD.

I made an SF 6'8, but not sure how I should distribute everything and I could use some tips on how to score outside of being wide open.

Playing an LDD has been an eye-opener because I see a huge difference in his animations and freedom on defense, but the drawbacks are big. That's one reason I think being able to hit open 3s isn't a huge deal.

I agree with your overall point, it is too easy to drop threes with just about anybody in this game, but I need to squabble with one of your examples. MKG is a terrible 3 point shooter, no doubt, but Rondo is much improved. He's still not great (averaging 35% this year after 36% last year), but that's definitely not as glaring of a weakness in his game as it used to be. He's not great, so you don't need to be in his grill (and he's not 3-3 great either), but definitely good enough to take a little seriously out there. He's low-70s for a three-point rating (IIRC), which I think is pretty fair.

every player HAS to be able to knock down a 3 pointer because that's the name of the game. Regardless of how consistent they are, you will never find a player you will NOT be able to hit at least 1 3 pointer in game with. That's just how the game is and historically speaking, most players in real life who weren't known for their 3 point shot, adjusted and made sure that it became a weapon for them to become a threat on the floor.

Jason Kidd
Vince Carter
almost every big man in the nba in 2017
Dwyane Wade in 2017
Older Michael Jordan
Lebron James

As they say, the nba is a copycat league, and if you're a fan like most of us are here on OS, you will have seen the trend in the nba is is to exploit the 3 point line as much as possible. It even calls for teams to have a stretch big as to always have "death Line up" which would allow as much shooting on the perimeter as possible to put up as many threes as possble and keep defenses at bay.

I hear the frustrations of the OP but honestly, 2k is just reflecting the shot percentages loosely based off the NBA. Did you check to see if the people that shot those 3 pointers had catch and shoot badges? that alone cant greatly affect whether or not a shot goes in. The badges on Bronze can make a person whos poor at something in most statistical categories, seem above average. IJS....

Agreed, but there are still guys out there who rarely shoot them, and when they do, it's not pretty. MKG is a good example. Dude's only taken 34 threes for his career and of those, only 7 have dropped. Completely rational to sag off of him in a realistic situation. Players should certainly be penalized for taking threes with those types of players. I've hit threes with some weird-*** players this year-- Taj Gibson, Nerlens Noel, Alton Lister (who has Limitless Range and Corner Specialist badges for some unknown reason) just to name a few. I mean, I'll take it, because I got away with a shot I wasn't supposed to take, but not just anybody should be able to fire away from deep and get away with it.
