Re: Official NBA 2k18 MyLeague/MyGm Thread

I started a MyLeague with the Spurs. I am playing with the updated roster from here with advanced rotations and playbooks updated along with injuries. I put that i can control all teams but put everything at auto except lineup management so advanced rotations can stay intact and maybe i'll put free agents signings on in the offseason aswell so that i can control if those unrealistic signings were to happen but they should since i turned the hard cap off.

As for my Spurs, i am not looking to change anything at the moment, i am glad with how my team looks, maybe i'll try to trade close to the trade deadline. This season should be easy in terms of handling the team, no big changes needed, it'll be almost on autopilot, but next season some changes will be had to made. If Pop retires and Tony and Manu go with him, it will be difficult to replace him and keep the Spurs culture going on.

This should be a long and fun ride

In my league I play 10 min quarters and since the past update I have noticed some disturbing trends... even when I adjust the sliders, players aren't getting tired at all and there are never any injuries during the game. Also, I just played a game in my league against twolves and towns didn't sub out once... he played all 40 minutes ...

I have noticed these issues since the latest patch and it's becoming a deal breaker in my league for me...

As for Towns not subbing out, you should have downloaded a roster that has edited advanced rotations for every team...I haven't started a myleague yet but im currently using Ciaco's roster on ps4. It includes advanced rotations and updated playbooks for every team in the league. I definitely would NOT start a season without a good custom roster.

Does anyone on here know what's the deal with player options when waived?

Suppose I waive a player on my team who has 1 year left on his contract + 1 year (player option). Do I only have to pay for the final year of his contract, or does the player option still count against my salary cap the season after as well?

I believe in 2K the original team pays him through the end of his contract (with the Player Option included) unless he gets signed by another team during the wavier period.

Here's some info on it on it in the NBA:

Darned! That's crystal clear. Sounds fair, otherwise that would've been a major exploit to rob players of their player option and free up cap space

Thanks for the answer!

As the month changes to December, here are the standings from around the league

In the East, the contenders and pretenders are shaping up, as the Cavs Celtics and Raptors are strong at the top of the league, separated by only half a game. The 6ers are surprisingly strong, although coming off a loss to the Celtics 115-108. The Hornets have dropped to the 5 seed and the Nets are a surprise 7 seed, which could spell trouble for the pick the Cavs acquired in the Kyrie Irving deal. The Wizards have struggled MASSIVELY with John Wall dealing with a strained groin and playing limited minutes, going 4-10 since he came out of the starting lineup. The other surprise is the Milwaukee Bucks, who have struggled to score this season, especially from 3 point range, ranking 25th in the league in both categories. One would think the Bucks are thinking about shipping off Jabari Parker, the oft-injured Forward who’s been playing well coming off the bench after his injury, but is fast approaching contract discussions, for 3 point help. The team also recently lost Matthew Dellavedova for a couple weeks to a bruised heel.

In the West, the Warriors feel no drop off with Jordan Bell in the starting rotation due to Draymond Greens injury. The Timberwolves and Jazz are playing up to their potential, and the Rockets have been struggling a bit but are still well within range of a top 3 seed. The Spurs have been perhaps the most disappointing team our west, but the team has been dealing with the loss of Tony Parker, as well as recently losing Patty Mills for a couple weeks, leading to Dejounte Murray and rookie Derrick White sopping up the PG minutes as of late. There is still plenty of time to turn things around. Another contender for most disappointing team is the Denver Nuggets, who are 8-13 on the season and a sieve on defense even with the addition of Paul Millsap. The team had to deal with losing Wilson Chandler for a few weeks, but the team is now healthy so let’s see if they turn things around.

The Celtics are doing well, currently on a 3 game win streak. Terry Rozier is still out for another 1-2 weeks with his broken toe, but recently acquired Seth Curry has been doing well for the team, averaging 13.3 PPG while playing backup PG and SG. The minutes situation will be interesting when Rozier returns. Kyrie Irving has been playing MVP level basketball leading the league in scoring at 29.3 PPG on ridiculous 53/48(!!)/94 splits, along with 4 rebounds and 7 assists per game. Hayward has been solid as the number two option, adding 18 PPG as well as 5.8 rebounds and 3.3 assists albeit on slightly disappointing 43/36/90 splits. The team has a cakewalk of a schedule through most of December which hopefully leads to some much needed rest for Kyrie as he averages nearly 40 MPG.

Will update at the turn of the new year as the trade market should heat up as newly signed players can finally be traded

I tried simulating 5 seasons into the future and found this:

2018:
18 90+ players
22 85-89 players

2023:
20 90+ players
35 85-89 players

Obviously the 90+ part is pretty promising, but there's too much development going on in that 85-89 range for my liking. In particular, the draft-and-stash guys progress way too much. I've had those guys go up by 8-10 points in one year. It's pretty crazy.
Draft and stash guys improve like the G-League which makes sense for the G-League as many of those guys are fighting tooth and nail to stay in this game but maybe the not so much for the draft and stash. I always look to draft them mainly due to that when it's the CPU draft class and not mines.

I love the G-League development speed. If it was any other way, it would be impossible to develop guys who well, will never get PT on any NBA team.
