On Ball Defense is HORRIBLE!!

I quite like the defense, it makes you have to work. But it's rewarding clamping your man up. In park with my 7'1 centre I was able to clamp up guards. The only only thing I'm not liking is that shot contest seems to do nothing. Against AI fully contested shot defense doesn't seem to effect their shot st all

holding LT is a weak shot contest but jumping is best

I love defense in this game. I can't even be mad when quicker players beat me when I step up. Just as it should be. No more over done bumping animations

Wrong. If my defense was good in 2k13, 2k15, and 2k16, it should be good in 2k18.

I'm not your typical defender. I don't play up close and force contact. I don't 'ram' into them several times. I give them space, watch their movements, adjust where I want them to go, cut off the baseline, etc. As I said before, all I do is play on ball defense. When you play against the Warriors and Cavs 24/7 you have no choice but to be good with on ball defense

Everything you're telling is what I've always done.

There seems to be some type of 'lag' like my player is stuck in quick sand, but the game runs fine

Defense is amazing. I'm even happy getting beat because it feels earned. Hope this isn't patched one bit.

Yeah hang in there man, I struggled last year after being "good" for years but this year i'm very solid....and i'm defending guys like Jimmy Butler and other really good 2-guards with Redick--i'm more than holding my own too.

Like they said tho...back off a bit...use the angles and other defenders to cut them off. Positioning is HUGE.

That said I still haven't seen one charge in an online game. NOT ONE. Offensive fouls provide a very good and NECESSARY balance to dribble penetration. Its early and no one's screaming "PATCH NOW!" but its on the short list of things to look at possibly tuning....

There was a popular one last year where you threw the ball long and the offensive player pushed off if you were using turbo. Here's the another:

2K18 has some plays with dribblers doing alot of pushing/going through guys instead of around or by them:









When the dribbler turns his back to the defender it should be gamplay's kind of "warning" to the user IMO...if you continue to turbo at that point we need to see some offensive fouls called.
