So a finesse inside-out threat is similar to a bull in a china shop?
Randle similar offensive player to Lopez?

Randle who uses pumpfakes below the basket and off the drible penetration and Randle who has no jumpshot is similar to Lopez?

To Lopez who has shown he can hit the three at nice enough level, who has a myriad of post moves contrary to Randle's one or two? Lopez who uses finesse to score buckets?

This is the editor who people blindly follow.

Editor that does not know the difference between two completely different offensive players.

Kobe and MJ are similar. Curry and Lillard are similar offensive players. Klay and Redick are similar offensive players. Randle and Lopez are NOT similar offensive players.

Mike Scott is going to be unstoppable if he gets the ratings jump he needs after the next one.

Please stop derailing this thread with attacks that the editor is blind.

It’s ok to disagree with the ratings but continually attacking the ratings changes is getting old.

The same goes for Rashidi responding in a negative tone. All it’s doing is ruining the thread.

If forum members don’t like the ratings change suggestions then kindly post a reply why. That sparks constructive healthy debates not negative back and forth.

The point of the changes is to give a different look to the default ratings.

Let’s please leave the discussion to that and move on. If you have personal feelings that are not constructive and remain less negative then use a PM to do it not derail the thread further.

Looking forward to seeing more team ratings analysis.

Some Bulls ratings in athleticism I feel could get updated

Bobby Portis speed is a 45 , when Lauri and Niko’s sits at 70 and 62. One of Portis strengths is how hard he runs the floor but they have him run slightly faster than Robin Lopez. I think in the 50’s or low 60’s is fine.

Kris Dunn’s dunking sits at 55 he can’t dunk at all in the game when he’s a decent dunker and even has a couple of posters on the season. At least in the low 70’s and contact flunk up in the 50’s

David Nwaba’s speed and speed with ball ..... dude doesn’t feel as athletic as he should be. He’s like a mini train , speed could be a 79 and speed with ball maybe a 75.

Speed is a difficult rating to quantify.

Want to guess the 10 lowest "average speeds" in the NBA?

Miles Per Hour (minimum 100 minutes)
3.61 DeMarcus Cousins
3.65 Dirk Nowitzki
3.72 Marc Gasol
3.74 John Wall
3.74 James Harden
3.80 Blake Griffin

3.80 David West
3.80 Marreese Speights
3.81 Carmelo Anthony
3.82 LeBron James

(Ish Smith is fastest at 4.96)

This serves to illustrate the disconnect from video game to actual basketball. John Wall and LeBron James are capable of speed "bursts" but they are far more methodical in a half-court setting.

I think you'd find that most players run the floor similarly enough (especially in today's NBA), compared to 2K which tries to institute a wide-range to prevent the game from breaking.

NBA Speed Rating Average
PG: 84
SG: 78
SF: 75
PF 70
C: 61

(This data is somewhat misleading as 2K has numerous incorrect positions. Switching to my own roster which accounts for this I have SGs 79 and Centers 63)

When we evaluate players based on their peers... things really start to fall apart. Let's put the Bulls ratings up against those averages.

POINT GUARDS (84)
Dunn: 83 (-1)
Grant: 80 (-4)
Payne: 79 (-5)
Arcidaiacono: 75 (-9)

SHOOTING GUARDS (79)
Blakeney 83 (+4)
LaVine: 81 (+2)
Nwaba: 75 (-4)
Holiday: 62 (-17)

SMALL FORWARDS (75)
Zipser: 71 (-4)
Valentine: 67 (-8)
Pondexter: 65 (-10)

POWER FORWARDS (70)
Markkanen: 70 (0)
Mirotic: 62 (-8)
Portis: 45 (-25)

CENTERS (63)
Felicio: 68 (+5)
Lopez 37 (-26)

It's not difficult to find issue with some of these.
Important to note: Only two players have lower than 60 speed (something I consider a legacy issue).

Here's the full list of NBA players with sub-50 speed
35: Brook Lopez
37: Robin Lopez, Boban Marjanovic
39: Alexis Ajinca, Jack Cooley
40: Ryan Anderson, Ivica Zubac
44: Dirk Nowitzki, David West, Omer Asik, Aron Baynes, A.J. Hammons
45: Kelly Olynyk, Bobby Portis, Salah Mejiri
46: Kosta Koufos
47: Brandan Wright
49: Zach Randolph

Not only is it clear Portis doesn't belong in this tier... I mean can anyone here really verbalize the speed difference between Robin Lopez and say, Kosta Koufos? The Lopez bros have the same speed ratings as Boban, who is essentially the NBA's last 300 pounder.

Personally I've always been a big believer in stats dictating dunk ratings, based on studies I've previously done.

Last season Dunn had 7 dunks, which is actually a fair amount for a PG.
Dunks accounted for about 3% of his FGA.
This year he is up to 9 and his frequency has held steady at 3.5%.

Based on my knowledge of the data I'd say Dunn was UNDERrated entering the season and his performance has thus far justified that.

Looking at PGs w/ over 55 dunk rating and their 2017 production (therefore excluding rookies).

PG Dunk Ratings (2017 Dunk Total / Frequency)
90 Russell Westbrook (49 / 3.1%)
85 John Wall (44 / 3.1%)
85 Damian Lillard (4 / 0.3%)
75 Malcolm Brogdon (24 / 3.9%)
75 Jordan Clarkson (18 / 2.0%)
73 Eric Bledsoe (4 / 0.4%)
70 Emanuel Mudiay (12 / 2.5%)
70 Tim Frazier (1 / 0.2%)
69 Shaun Livingston (30 / 9.8%)
69 Reggie Jackson (6 / 1.2%)
69 Jerian Grant (3 / 1.0%)
65 Tomas Satoransky (3 / 4.1%)
65 Dejounte Murray (3 / 2.6%)
65 Terry Rozier (3 / 0.7%)
65 Jeff Teague (2 / 0.2%)
60 Michael Carter-Wiliiams (6 / 2.0%)
60 Brandon Knight (5 / 0.6%)
55 Kris Dunn (7 / 2.9%)
55 Isiah Whitehead (6 / 1.6%)

A lot of these are pretty outdated, and in fact I'm going to check an old article I wrote and probably find a lot of the ratings haven't changed in the last three years. I can tell you with 100% certainty that Shaun Livingston's has not.

Lillard peaked in 2015 (30 dunks, 2.4%). Ditto for Jeff Teague (20 dunks, 2.4% in 2015). He's dunked 6 times since then.

Shaun Livingston may not be the flashiest but the numbers back that he's the best dunking PG in the NBA.

Few PGs in the NBA are capable of throwing down a poster, which he's clearly capable of if you're going to give him a lane. But then there are dunks like this....

....which are your standard run of the mill dunk players just get in the regular flow (and there are few PGs who even semi-regularly get dunks like the one above). Not everything is a highlight. Yet for years 2K has focused more on "highlights" to determine dunk ratings, which lead to serious gameplay issues over the years (GO FIGURE).

NBA 2K16 Dunk Ratings - Point Guards
http://thereal2kinsider.blogspot.com...nt-guards.html

Confirming that these dunk ratings haven't changed one bit in two years.

Oh wait, my apologies. John Wall dropped one point. Derrick Rose dropped 40. Everyone else is exactly the same.
