The CPU definitely smothers in most match ups but I feel Love is the one match up that actually gives Green space in most cases, lol

I always said this in 2k17. Sometimes the best D against a great lockdown is simply not shooting. When i was against one in 2k17 i would adapt and change my game into an opportunity scorer instead of my usual dominate scorer style. May only come out with like 12-15 points but you won’t be feeding your defender easy stats that lead to your team getting screwed whenever you touch it

Are folks expecting to just run by defenders? We could in 2K18 and this was a problem. Learn to use actual moves and you will be fine; This is where stick skills come in. I dropped 29 points with Curry in 2KU on HOF without forcing anything (like 24 with Klay in another game). Averaged about 20 ppg as a slashing PG in the prelude without forcing anything. Defense is good where it is.

Remember this thread, folks.

We now have our Lebronze James "do we still have to press start to go to the menu" moment.

That was almost a decade ago. This is the sequel.

Keep the OP in mind. If defense is ever nerfed, we'll know exactly who to blame.

Thankfully, Da_Czar is on our side.

Some people feel like they got a point to prove when they match up against a lockdown of any kind lol. I can't count how many times some clueless pg would rather isolate me and do every dribble move just to try to break my ankles when all they had to do was pass.

I think the root of it is there are alot of people that have never really played basketball before complaining about the game becoming more rooted in reality - like when Madden made it more difficult to throw 80 yard bombs off your backfoot.

I forget what thread it was but I saw one where a guy literally said

"This is BS! I shouldn't need moves to beat someone if I have a speed advantage."

Creating space isn't about running in a straight line, it's about moving a defender out of position. James Harden is not an explosive athlete, but he is world-class (literally, like soccer striker level) at decelerating, and he uses change of pace and ability to stop on a dime (and threat of stopping on a dime) to get opponents out of position and get great looks on a regular basis.

Try to just sprint in a direction past your defender next time you're playing pickup - you're just going to collide with him and lose the ball, no matter how much faster you are than him.

Side note: I just realized charge card could have real value in gameplay now - when guys get frustrated and just hold R2 and hope for a blowby, you might be able to slide over and take the contact on the chest.

I'll tell you one thing.

Well, two, first one being that the Prelude MyCareer gameplay means nothing, and we all should know that by now.

The other one is: in a couple of weeks tops, MyPlayers in ProAm are going to be 90+, with every gold badge or close to HoF where it applies - if they're slow -, and enough dribble moves will have been discovered. Skill and energy boosts are always available.

You'll need as much lateral quickness as possible to stay in front of a good ball handler.

You'll need the defensive stopper badge to counter their badges.

You'll also need bruiser to tire them fast enough to bring their ball handling rating under 86 and screw up their moves.

You'll need the defensive takeover against their takeover.

You'll need a defensive archetype.

Re: If defense isn't nerfed Lockdowns will be superfluous.

They don't need to nerf anything at all.

Defense is fun again and challenging on the other side of the ball.

2K doesn't need to listen to players like this... its that kind of thinking that got the game in a stinkhole from the jump.

People complain too much, especially about things they just need to learn. Earn it, figure it out, do some strategy and like Kobe said figure it out.
