Official NBA 2k19 MyLeague/MyGM Thread

Been spending a little time trying to figure out how this game works. Started in the offseason with the Knicks, traded down from the 9th pick to select SGA and shed bad contracts. Traded Kristaps for 5 future first round picks from Sacramento and the Timberwolves (Dieng and KP to the Kings who got Luka, expirings to Timberwolves), and then signed undrafted 70 overall sharpshooter Rodions Kurucs with 0 badges to a four year deal for $5 mil.

Started Kurucs, set his training to the downloadable "Lockdown 2-4" he finished his rookie season with 11ppg on abysmal efficiency 30% FG 20% 3PT

Season 2 draft Zion with first overall pick, sign Jimmy Butler to a four year deal. Kurucs finishes the season 11ppg 33%FG 30%3PT starts the season with the corner specialist and limitless range badge.

In his prime he averages 19.8ppg 7rpg 4.5apg 1.4bpg 1.5spg 46% 45% 86% with 11 badges (HoF corner specialist, limitless range, catch and shoot. Gold chase down artist, lock down defender, pick pocket. Silver posterizer, pick and roll maestro, pick and pop. Spark plug and Microwave) as a "Two way player/wing/guard" depending on which position he plays, shot 6 threes per game

Makes the all star game 3 times, all NBA 3rd team twice, two time all defensive first team, 6 time all defensive second team

We won 6 rings, one three peat, one two peat and one the year after that but Zion won FMVP and every MVP. There were a few years Kurucs complained he should have won MVP and two years he complained he should have won most improved. He was in the top 5 running for most improved only once

The only thing I edited were his tendencies, I could never get him to score 20ppg even with every thing scaled up. I tried to get him to develop a post game at 27 to no avail but I suspect he was more malleable before he reached his peak at 26. At his peak end at 30 he started regressing, he had one season where we did not win the title where he averaged:

then the next year when we won the title averaged

15ppg 6rpg 4.5apg 40%FG 44%3PT, which is weird because when he got injured before the all star break the computer coach did not want to put him back in the rotation. He had a 27 point game in the Finals.


Starting the new season he's now a 72 overall sharpshooter (85 at his peak at SF, but played SG/PF a ton) with 6 badges and completely out of the automated rotation although I suspect he'd play better than the g leaguers on the roster at his position due to his badges and tendencies.

Basically you can develop players however you want to in this game provided your team is bad enough for you to tank and for them to get minutes. I've never seen a G league player develop badges even if their overall increased just as much, but that may have to do with the fact I altered Kurucs tendencies.

Now I'm just trying to sim without interfering as much as possible to Kurucs retirement to see if he makes the Hall, Klay missed it with 5 titles in the simulator and more all star selections than Kurucs. I'm hoping Kurucs defensive selections and having the edge on all NBA teams and championships will help ensure he makes the Hall and gets his jersey retired on the Knicks. I don't think I can get him enough playing time, without manually setting the rotation, to add defensive teams which I think he could still do with his badges although his defensive ratings are all Cs now.

I simmed this entire rebuild but I'd be very sad if I got emotionally attached to these players through multiple seasons/titles and the second best sidekick in NBA history gets disrespected like that

Redrafting for PS4 lg after multi seasons, Sunday l at 9-9:30 am est. We Have an active loyal core looking for 4 or so active users to follow lol who are comp no bums and no lg hoppers. Ideally must have 1 lg max rn. 9 gm a week, onball d, 1 up 1 down, can’t run same play 3x in a row (no cheese), no quitting or boot, progression and badge system, real rookies.

What are your experiences with severe injuries? I just lost Trae Young to an Achilles tendon rupture and Im a little scared that there are some bad long term effects. What was the worst that happened with you?

my team is 45-24 with 13 games left to play in the 2028 season, good enough for 1st in the East by a few games. both conferences have been dominated by me and the Suns (the champions 3 years in a row) the last 4-5 years but this year we are much closer to the pack. im having a down year (won 65+ games the last 3 seasons) and my team just doesn't go out and dominate like they used to. I learned this early on in the season and tried to change lineups and make trades to improve but now here I am with terrible team chemistry (49%) and the postseason creeping up on me, I dont feel good about this teams chances. if I lost in the first round I wouldn't even be shocked. that being said, I was the front runner for years and could never win it all so who knows - maybe this adversity will be good for my team.
