The other one is floaters/runners and layups. They are just not effective or weren't effective in previous versions of the game, they take too much time to perform and are too slow and too predictable, I was a PG in 2k19 and I don't remember pulling them off, it's just not effective.

And besides that, the obvious disadvantage, they are smaller, but pro sides of being smaller are not displayed well in this game and the negative side clearly outreaches the positive side.

And it's too easy to block shots around the rim in this game, not just shots, dunks, dunks are really blocked IRL, because the timing has to be perfect, especially if it's a two hand dunk, but in 2k, you don't really have to time it that well, just press the block button, if you are close to the player, you'll probably block it. They have to emphasize reducing blocks, especially on dunks, and making it more harder overall to block shots, and increase the number of fouls.
I think calling fouls would control this. If the real nba allowed as much fouling as 2k there would be just as many blocked dunks.

Mike said how Quick First Step unlocks the blowby animation. Last year the blowby was really toned down. How Microwave is changed to Hot Start. Where once you knock down that first shot, you get a boost until you start missing. He mentioned bumped steals being reworked and how it feels better. That's something we have to really see in action. The names are cringe. I feel really simplified the names so the casual crowd can obviously know what they are.

I do see why people feel the way they do about Charge Card being taken out. I personally nevered attempted to take a charge in game. But I do feel that it is a necessary badge since they don't have a rating for it. I do feel like the charge/block system needs to be re-worked. I play offline, I never seen AI attempt to take a charge letalone see it called. Heck, I barely seen that many Blocks called. They do need to be more frequents. Guys like Lowry and Green impact the game with taking key charges..

I disagree, I was a playmaking shooter PG in 2k19 and I managed to get a block or two pretty much every game, you can block two handed dunks just by swiping the ball from behind, that happens so rarely IRL that I remember seeing it only a couple of times in years of watching basketball. Blocks need to be toned down and harder to pull of, make the timing window shorter, and increasing the number of fouls is a must.

Btw, talking about Live, I felt so much better playing a small quick PG than I did with 2k19. I am not saying Live is better, I played 2k a lot more and I think itīs a better game, but there are certain aspects of basketball where Live was better, maybe 2k could take some of it and implement it to make small guys (more) useful.

Overall, Im a fan. My philosophy when playing offline is to eradicate all the badges that ratings already cover. Why bother with the mid range dead eye when the 3 mid range shooting ratings already give that player a boost? I just globally turn this off.

But a badge like the corner shooter badge captures a skill that ratings can't so that stays.

Blocks should be toned down for anyone without defense in their build and good timing. And more fouls should be called for those without defense in their build and for both when using bad timing and position.

.

Not to derail the thread, because it could use some improvement, but I strongly disagree. Them placing a higher emphasis on the contest at the release of a layup allowed me to take advantage of the evasive lay up options in nba 2k19. The Euro, cradle and spin gathers are gold, but the hop step to floater is just sexy.

Why is Volume Shooter returning? I know Mike said they revamped it a bit but I will avoid that badge at all cost until someone confirms it has more pro's than cons.

I'm not a fan of Defensive Players having a small arrow under the ball handler indicating where they're leaning or attempting to go. That sounds awful.

Could definitely use some work, but this is something 2K19 doesn't get nearly enough credit for....the ability to pull off creative finishes around the rim...they gave you a lot of options this year..

Floaters specifically, I dont think I've ever used them as much as I've used them in 2K19

The fact that they've seemingly expanded the options (especially for smaller guys) for 2K20 has me excited...
