Re: NBA 2K22 MyCAREER, The City and More Details

I'm an offline MyCareer player and I been came to the realization that it's never going back to the original format. I know we're going to start off at 60 OvR with option to buy your way to 85. I don't like it and don't plan on buying VC, but I'm not going to complain.

I like that it is less of a movie and not something that ends when you get to the NBA. I didn't interact with the City much, so I hope it is quicker to traverse around the city if we got to do the Quests. I do hope they changed up the perks system than past 2 years. I rather them go back to the OVR perks rather than games played. I always looked forward to adjusting lineups and influencing trades/FA. There was a bug and I never got it. I rather them go back to the OVR system.

My main issue with Offline MyCareer is AI. I want the CPU to employ smarter lineups, teammates to be more reliable, better roster management. Something weird I noticed in Offline MyCareer is play calling tendencies. It felt like CPU heavily leaned towards Post ups. They would run the offense through the post. I played on the Grizzlies and Kings and they would run the O through JJJ and Bagley through the post all game. If you set a pick, they took the drive every time.

Re: NBA 2K22 MyCAREER, The City and More Details

Just proves I'm old. All of this just seems weird and strange to me. I'll never forget the games I grew up with. I'll never forget being in my first year of college and being psyched for 2k11 and the next several years after that.

But, it just isn't for me anymore and that's fine. I have other hobbies and over 70 basketball video games I've collected over the years. I can find my fix with those.

It's a new generation of gamers. Everything is mostly about "open world" and the social aspect of gaming. Not a "terrible" trend to follow, but it's not for everyone.

If I look at this as if I were a kid in high school I definitely get it. Impossible to please everyone so go with the most profitable demographic. I think 2k could achieve a nice balance, my issue is I dont think they want to

Re: NBA 2K22 MyCAREER, The City and More Details

So as an offline player, what's the appeal? Has this replaced the mode where you created a player and could control that player in the NBA?

I know it's different departments working on various aspects, but it seems like instead of focusing on making sure every brick is as true to real life as possible as if it's a RPG / 3rd person shooter, they could've worked on passing, a 75th anniversary mode, classic filters, getting accurate colours, upgrading classic players looks and such.

This is clearly catering to a new generation of people who have the time to go online and just walk around for hours, do all this non-basketball stuff and then play a match every once in a while, but that's just not for a lot of people who are (die hard) basketball fans.

Ow well.

I swear the Park... well in this case... The City gets cheesier and cheesier with each new 2K release. Stop with all of this laggy cosmetic stuff and focus on gameplay and realism. The only setting I need for park is a Rucker Park styled playing area. Having the shopping areas is cool, but it's only going to mean that a lot of the players that load into the park will be spending more time trying to play dress up instead of trying to get games in.
