This is a problem because of 2 things IMO

1) the startup animations from a stand still to sliding are entirely too slow. There is no explosion. This is because of the new motion system introduced in 2k20

2) the ai is programmed to circle behind the offensive player and chase the ball once they are beat off the dribble instead of trying to put their body between you and the rim. Thats why getting by players is so black and white so to speak. Would rather see a canned hip ride animation that leads to a makeable layup instead

I mean, look at this vid... Check how the CPU controlled Cunningham is moving to keep up with Lonzo. And this is on Allstar, not even HOF or SS. Things like this happen often since forever, but this year it's insane.

I mean... the system's not perfect. Balance is way harder to achieve in making games than people seem to think.

Yes, I know, believe me. But going from one end to the other on the subject is not fixing a problem. It's just creating another.

I understand that it's frustrating, but it's not as if they did it on purpose. They weren't in the office saying to themselves "We could make this perfectly balanced, but instead, let's go all the way to the extreme in the opposite direction."

I assume that what we got with AI defense this year was their best attempt to solve the issues from last year, which they'll keep working on going into next year, and so on.

Maybe I'm too idealistic, but I like to give people the benefit of the doubt.

Re: Speed Difference

Man the feedback in this thread is awesome. But I've been preaching this for years.....

I wish one of the Devs who created or worked on sliders, would make a video or blog explaining the sliders in DETAIL. Meaning how does each slider affect the game and give examples. Especially for sliders that are not black and white.

Instead of us trying to figure all this stuff out.

I agree with you. And I like 2k22 a lot more than 2K21, because they improved other areas greatly. It's just that what they did with the defense, while offering a more challenging experience compared to 2K21, it goes further away from becoming a better sim in my opinion. A lot of people are happy with this, and I'd be too when comparing to 2K21, but, like I said, it's just a bandaid for the problem. We've had this type of defense in another recent 2K, so to me they just went back to that.

Man thats bad. If it was HOF I would understand since HOF is not sim but more so a challenge for the user.
