a game with realism is fun enough already. nba 2k realism = fun. if your definition of fun is playing crazy above the rim wacky basketball then play nba jam instead of nba 2k. period.

How about realism is part of what makes it fun?

All I can say is I love basketball and I love what 2k has been doing. Every year it looks more realistic and I will continue playing 2k basketball as long as it continues what it has been doing.

As said before , sim is the fun factor IMO. I love b-ball & video games so i want the most realistic b-ball sim experience.

BTW, i enjoy arcade games too like NBA Street.

realism equals fun, fun equals realism.
IMO, basketball is really fun whether you shoot 70% or shoot 30%,
and its easy to find folks that will like playing your brand of basketball.

when it comes to basketball, realism + fun are synonymous so I don't get the poll really. realism isn't at the expense of the game being fun, it's the REASON the game is fun to begin with. and that commitment to realism is also the exact reason that 2k has grown from a little known brand to now almost to being on the Madden level. EA took the arcadey "fun" route and we saw where that got them.

Re: Whats More important, Realism or Fun Factor?

I am kind of lost here, well, just a little ... realism isnt fun ? ... realism is difficult ? ... fun is easy ? ... fun isnt realism ?

To me, simulation attempts to reach realism and simulation therefor is fun.

When I do sliders (only after doing a propper scale of the players ratings and tendencies, for offline) ... I do them to try and simulate realism ... I dont do them to try and prevent cheesy plays but to try and have us both (users or CPU) get realistic stats on each and every category ... the only effective way of preventing cheesy plays is by playing sim users. I also find not fun to play with some sliders that dont allow a good range for achieving real life like stats, difficultiness comes from the decissions taken by the opponent within the oncourt action and should not come from a preset force (sliders).

I personally find disturbing and not fun, to play an unsim player even if I am able to effectively counter or lower his cheesy style.

For all that, is why I am a little lost. If you were aiming at what I posted, then (leaving aside my second statement above), then yes: I too prefer realism.
