Otherwise I agree with Boilerbuzz...they aren't any different from the former "skill points"...if you want realism to the point that you have to spend 3 months worth of time practicing in the gym over the summer to improve attributes...hey, i'm not mad at you...

But I don't mind "leveling up" in that regard...it serves it's purpose...

EDIT: I also dislike that you have to "buy" blacktop players, that's stupid
That's the thing though. As a Player or GM I can't progress naturally because of VC or skill points for that matter. Natural progression has to be built into the game from the developers. There's little you can do to work around it.

I hate how vc is integrated in the game and not strictly kept for mycareer mode. I remember when you didn't have to pay vc to unlock players for blacktop mode..

Just because the whole industry is going in a bad direction doesn't mean we shouldn't complain about it.

I'm okay with VC if it was tuned properly for game balance-- after all, it can be earned without paying money-- but the whole reason it isn't is because 2K has a conflict of interest. They're motivated to give you a little less than is satisfactory so you'll pony up a few bucks. It makes more sense for their bottom line for you NOT to be able to level up your MyCareer just by playing MyCareer. So as a result, the best way to progress in MyCareer is to NOT play it, by:

1. Buying VC and skipping the game all together.
2. Playing every other mode BUT MyCareer, as it makes the least VC for time spent.

In this case, creating cashflow is at odds with sound and sensical game design, and that is not a good thing.

On the other hand, I can accept something like paying VC as Luxury Tax in MyGM-- because such a use of VC enhances gameplay, balance, and promotes simulation.

Re: So What's The Real Beef With VC?

I don't get why for MyCareer they can't pay you in real $$$ like in 2k12 but then have VC have to be redeemed with your contract money.

For example: let's say 1,000 VC is worth $250K....so during your career during the pay period you should be able to redeem some of your salary so far for increments of VC which can then be used for your player.

That way it'll make the gamers happy who want to have the realism of their players making real money that affects the team cap, but will also continue providing other gamers the opportunity to purchase VC with their real money to use towards their player.

I just wish the player contracts thing hadn't been changed.

I really appreciate a realistic looking rookie contract, not a "VC" contract.

Plus when I play a long game and I can't connect to the server I end up losing VC, which would never happen with the old system unless I froze.

Re: So What's The Real Beef With VC?

My gripes:

1) I don't CARE if you don't have enough time to build up your myPlayer/Team/GM, this is a game to play, this first reason is a personal reason, I believe people can only be better and are more legitimate if they work on it

2) The game revolves TOO much on VC/MT coins/whatever, I have to use VC to buy clothes, and to relevance to what you earn and how much to spend for say, a headband, its crazy.

3) The game's rewarding amount/the amount to pay for something is ridiculous, I earn 250 for an online quick game and just playing it, it would be nice if I get win bonus, loss subtraction, and all that stuff.

Great idea for extra profit, but the way its executed and how overpowered it is, just isn't a great thing for me.

How is it 'sim' to be able to make any player you want 99 rated with no cost?

They went for even MORE sim in myplayer before, having you start out in the d league and draft combines etc.. (in lieu of not being able to have a college career) - people complained about wanting to just be an NBA star right away and not mess around with that nonsense.

People don't really want sim.

I think you're romanticizing his role dude. I wouldn't count on him just walking in the door calling shots.
