Self shadowing is when a player casts a shadow on himself, usually with his head or arm.

Re: NBA 2k12 PC Impressions.

Just had one of the best games that I've had in a bball game, which went down to the wire.

It was VC's first game back in Toronto in my association, when the Raptors sent Amir Johnson, Leandro Barbosa and a filler to the Suns for Vince and a 7'2" project, and a 2012 First from the Suns.

First game of the season saw the 76'ers come to town behind Andre Iguodala. The new look Raptors. Vince received a mixed reaction from the home crowd, but after removing the warmups, the fans saw an in shape Carter, looking more cut than in previous seasons.

When the ball was tipped, the Raptors got off to a slow start, behind a notably poor shooting effort by #15. The sole highlight of the first quarter was a fast break alleyoop from Weems to Vince Carter, in what was reminiscent of the Vinsanity of old.

Vince shook off the rust in the second quarter, scoring 16 second quarter points. Not to be outdone, Iguodala and Dru had a huge impact on the game in the second as well, even getting help from Spencer Hawes from 3 point land.

3rd and 4th quarters saw the Sixers build a comfortable 9 point lead, going into the final 5 minutes up by 9. Vince was able to get a little bit of steam built up, and start firing on all cylinders, bringing the Raptors within 3 with a stepback 3 pointer from the right wing. Tenacious defense was able to stifle the Sixers next attempt, which saw the Raptors take control of the game for the moment.

Vince was able to fake a drive to the right, step back behind the 3 point line from the top of the key, but Iguodala was right on him, a nice pump fake saw Andre fly by, as Vince sank a 3 from dead on.

It was back and forth, until the Sixers went ahead on an up and under by Brand, taking the lead by 2. Next trip down the floor, with 19 seconds left, Vince drove hard to the cup... and drew a LOT of contact but wasn't rewarded calls that were seemingly given on the other end of the floor, and Brand was able to grab the board, and seal the victory for the visitors.

Man... what a game. Final score was 91-86, Sixers. Vince did end with 51 points, as he was the only bright spot for the Raptors. He also tallied 5 assists and 4 rebounds to go along with his stellar scoring effort.

Re: NBA 2k12 PC Impressions.

This game is just not clicking for me. After 10 games or so I'm still getting killed on Pro difficulty. I'm doing the training, studying the controls and trying to play smart. But to no avail.

It almost feels like to succeed you need to find a particular 'flow' that I'm just not feeling. I love that the CPU is tough and smart but I'm starting to get really frustrated and my lack of success is making me want to put the game away and play something else.

Every game the CPU is shooting over 50% and even more from the 3pt line, whilst I'm struggling to break 40% on either. I'm trying to stay in front of my man and contest shots but it feels like all the CPU has to do is make one cut and then my player's momentum takes him right out of the contest. Then on the other hand when I have the ball I can't get past anybody.

Pick and rolls are still a mystery, even after watching Czar's video. I don't have all the time in the world to practise so I guess I'm hoping that there are some simple strategies that I can implement to help me compete.

I feel like a complete noob playing this game and I've never struggled with 2K's games before.

Ummmmm.....help!!

Stop playing Pro - Increase the difficulty to All-Star and make it challenging, stop running and gunning. Play on 8 to 9 mins and run plays.

You'll get a better feel out of it...

Re: NBA 2k12 PC Impressions.

I'm always trying to slow it down and run plays on almost every possession, I never run and gun unless I think I have a chance for some fast break points.

I think I need to be 'snappier' and more efficient with my passing but when I try to do that I end up turning the ball over constantly.

I'm hoping its just a phase and that things will click soon. I'm trying to vary my offense and use different approaches. Hopefully that will open things up a little.

Mix it up and always attack weaknesses in the opposing team. The first game I played was the Thunder (Me) vs Celtics in Boston, I basically played exactly how the Thunder would and ended up winning. Anytime I got a rebound with Russ I'd push tempo, if they got back I'd set up and run KD off screens.

Re: NBA 2k12 PC Impressions.

The wheel is starting to turn. I've managed to stay with the Lakers (as the Bulls) for 3 quarters in my latest game.

A small thing I've noticed is that you really have to call your plays as soon as you get the ball because they develop so slowly.

PS. Ended up losing by 8 but only because Kobe got hot in the last two minutes and basically hit every single shot he took. I guess thats actually quite realistic so I'm not too bummed out. I'm happy that I managed to actually compete.

The post moves are still tough but I think it's because Gasol is locking me down quite well.
