You should delete the online data folder for good measure, although even if you leave it there it will get overwritten.

You can either let the game get to the Home screen and leave it there for 10-15 minutes (it has to download 46MB of Online Data all over again), or just replace the corrupt/deleted Online Data folder with the latest proper one:

Hmmm I am currently having a problem... I deleted all of my online data but when I start the game it doesn't connect to the Network. I guess it's overloaded? No "NBA Today" either.
