Official Cleveland Cavs Team Thread

so far i think ferry and has done a good job this offseason. deep down inside i really though redd and allen would stay put. so getting larry hughes was not to shabby.

resigning Z was good i know it looks like he got overpaid but isnt everyone in the league overpaid? if we dont give him the money some other team would have.

now we just need to get a point guard. i really hope we get Sarunas Jasikevicius. i`d be really happy to see him with the cavs. the guy is a hell of a passer and can light it up from outside. i know everyone says his D sucks but i`m sure mike brown can help anyways how many players in the league play great D?

what are other cavs fans thoughts on this offseason?

Re: Official Cleveland Cavs Team Thread

Sarunas' defense can definately be worked on... in fact, defense is one of the easier things to learn in the game. And w/ Mike Brown, you know that we'll put together some really good defensive efforts.

Signing Ilgauskas back was huge, and I feel was vital to the upcoming season, and was vital to signing Jasikevicius.

Hughes coming to the Wine & Gold is great in my eyes. I don't believe he was overpaid like a lot of the Cavalier fans. You have to spend money on a 26 year old stud... this team is shaping up really nicely from my viewpoint.

Re: Official Cleveland Cavs Team Thread

here is a little update from the plain dealer if we couldnt get Sarunas Jasikevicius daniels would be my next choice.

Point-guard update:

Free-agent point guard Antonio Daniels attended the Las Vegas Summer League on Wednesday. Daniels said he was in town talking with different executives and coaches about joining their team. Daniels, who played with Seattle last year, said the Cavs are one of the many teams he is interested in playing for.

"I'm trying to make my decision by the end of this week or the beginning of next week," Daniels said. "I'm interested in Cleveland because I'm from Columbus. Playing close to home would be a great opportunity. Plus LeBron [James] is there and Larry Hughes is there now and Z [Zydrunas Ilgauskas] is still there. That would be a very competitive team in the East."

Re: Official Cleveland Cavs Team Thread

Roster
PG - Damon Jones / Eric Snow
SG - Larry Hughes / Sasha Pavlovic
SF - LeBron James / Ira Newble / Luke Jackson
PF - Drew Gooden / Donyell Marshall / Anderson Varejao / Alan Henderson
C - Zydrunas Ilgauskas / Martynas Andriuskevicius

Training Camp Invitees
PG - Mike Wilks / Filberto Rivera
SG - Kelenna Azibuike
SF - N/A
PF - Jahidi White
C - Obinna Ekezie, Mengkee Bateer, Zendon Hamilton

All in all, not bad. Apparently Mike Wilks has the best chance out of all of the invitees to make the team. The big guys are relatively even for now and will fight it out as training camp progresses.

I think this team should make the playoffs (obvious sounding comment, but come on, it's Cleveland). I think this season will hinge on how healthy everyone can stay (Hughes, Varejao, Z) and everyone not giving up down the stretch.

Re: Official Cleveland Cavs Team Thread

They are now saying Varejao will be out until January. I can almost bet White makes the team, maybe Bateer as well.

I know it only pre-season, but yeesh...the Wiz are on pace to put up 140 on the Cavs. Mike Browns defensive schemes may take a while though...

edit...The team really turned up the D...great game.
