I've never found a set of Heisman sliders that I'm any good with. Speaking to Bill's mention of "house rules" though, my house rules for throwing deep go like this:

1. Don't throw deep unless the situation calls for it (3rd and 20 or so would definitely call for it).

2. I only throw to a fly pattern under one circumstance - the WR has 1-1 man coverage and has obviously beaten his man. It happens once or twice a game. The CB will try to jam the WR at the line and doesn't, and has no safety help. If I notice it, of course I throw it up, what QB wouldn't?

Off the subject slightly, Bill, you're not using OSU this year? I decided I finally would after Miami's fight song was mysteriously absent this year (I'd been considering switching anyway, that just sealed the deal). I've always been an OSU fan, my grandfather was a senior OL on the '49 Rose Bowl team.
Actually Im not playing on Heisman, either. It's a very playable level but there's too much CPU BS for my taste.

The deep ball house rule I use is similar, but I'm not limiting it on the down and distance. Think about it: 2nd and 1 is a great time to go long...

I try to limit the number of fly patterns in general. Also, on AA lvl, if you throw deep to an impact WR that is "In the Zone" (that's key) he's going to catch it I'd say 8/10 times, regardless of coverage. If he's not in the zone, the odds drop considerably. Do with that what you will. But I don't throw deep to an impact WR when he's pulsating, as crazy as that sounds. I do throw to him, just not on a streak. For me, it's an uto 50 yard pass and that's boring.

As for OSU, no, not right now. I'm sure I will play with OSU but I'm also reviewing the game for CGM and I want to see how easy/hard it is to recruit for Akron and to see how long it takes to turn the Zips into a powerhouse. (If I can at all.)

Wow the '49 Rose Bowl team! Sweet. A 17-14 win over the Cal Bears. That's awesome man. Who did he block for? I think that was before Hopalong Cassidy.

I am pretty decent at swatting away the deep ball and mixing up my blitzes but dunno what that does.

I do get burned occaisonally, and am ok with that. In fact what's funny is that I was starting to worry that the CPU wasn't passing deep ENOUGH, if you can believe that.

I haven't changed coaching tendencies yet, most of them seem to be set pretty good. I get a ton of carries against me so it's not even an issue. But it's nice to know the option is there.

I'll report back when I get more info.
Jistic I was saying the same thing, I think I defend the deep ball better then others so it's not an issue for me what so ever, And if I do get beat It's my my fault or the fact that the reciver was a lot better tne my DB. Like you said I haven't seen the CPU go crazy in the air against that much at all, maybe it's because I prettty good at playing D.

Yeah, forgot about that one. I do that too, just forgot to include it here.

Wow, I'm not even sure who the back was. Hopalong was there in 1955 for the National Championship, so '49 was before his time. It was before Woody's too, because I heard the joke 100 times that, "There was OSU football BEFORE Woody Hayes?"

Re: Jistic's NCAA 2006 AA Sliders

Just had a good game with version 2. I lost to USC as Notre Dame 31-21. The game wasn't very close, 21-0 at half and I scored two garbage time TDs against the backups in the 4th. The drops were the biggest problem, my two late TDs came once my players started catching the ball. All around good, I expect to lose to USC with ND, and they handled me pretty easily with their starters. I will give them a couple more games.

Box Score Q1 Q2 Q3 Q4 F
#10 Virginia Tech Hokies 0 0 0 0 0
North Carolina State Wolfpack 0 3 0 3 6

As you can see, Tech did NOTHING. Couldnt run, cant pass. The game was played in a rain storm, which may have affected them. I was decent, should have had more rushing yards. Game was played with Jistic's sliders, V2.0. Any thoughts?

Re: Jistic's NCAA 2006 AA Sliders

I didn't write down my results but I just had a similar game in the first game of my FSU dynasty. I beat Miami 7-6. Miami had negative rushing yds. We each had 5 sacks. L. Washington had around 120-130 yds on 22 attempts. It was A DEFENSIVE battel and I had a friggin blast. Am I concerned about the sliders after one game....NO! I am not the best player at this game, in fact I feel I am average at best. Of course this game was played at the Doak and it was ROCKING! Oh and I missed a FG with 1:30 to go to put me up 4. I hate to say it, but yes, it was wide right LOL!!!

So I will play some more games hopefully today and tonight to get a good feel. This was about my first full game too as I have been VERY busy with work.
