Jay's Realism Sliders for All-American (TESTED X360)

Well, after furious testing, looking at other slider sets - and seeing a lot of good to be had in this game with some work, I've decided to release Version #1 of my Realism Sliders for All-American in NCAA 08.

Jay's Realism Sliders for All-American v1.0
7 Minute Quarters - Tested on X360 Console

Offense

QB Accuracy: 55/55
Pass Blocking: 100/100
WR Catching: 60/60
RB Ability: 55/55
Run Blocking: 100/100

Defense

Awareness: 25/25
Knockdowns: 40/40
Interceptions: 5/5
Break Block: 0/0
Tackling: 50/50

Special Teams

FG Power: 25/25
FG Accuracy: 10/40
Punt Length: 40/40
Punt Accuracy: 60/80
KO Length: 40/40

All Penalties set to MAX except:

Offside - 90, False Start 75, Clipping 50

The reason for the snap penalty settings is to allow yourself give to fake snap so the computer does not constantly jump the snap on you.

----

The auto-sub settings I am using are as follow:

QB: 60/95 DT: 80/95
RB: 90/95 DE: 80/95
WR: 75/95 LB: 70/90
FB: 85/95 CB: 65/90
OL: 60/80 S: 70/90

----

Please test these sliders!

A few of my views are that the Break Block slider is completely useless, and that the blocking settings are essential for realistic play. They are set to try to produce a realistic line-of-scrimmage push, that is more dependent on the players ratings than one stupid slider.

You will see less tackles for loss overall, with well-defended plays producing more one or two yard gains. Even with the inflated blocking sliders, you and the CPU will still accumulate sacks - but from my experience so far they are a much more reasonable number. Play-action is also fairly effective with these sliders.

I've read a lot of Playmakers work, and I liked his ideas with the knockdown/INT slider. I've found that the 40/5 on both sides produces just a little bit better pass defense but I've had no real problems with the slider set 35/5 either. Experiment for yourself.

As always, remember sliders are just a base. If you try my sliders and are generally impressed but "something's missing" feel free to tweak and share your findings with the community.

Sorry for the rant, please enjoy. I know I am.

I'm going to go play the first "real" game of my dynasty with these settings. I play using Michigan and the first game I'll be sharing will be versus Oregon.

I've also tested the sliders a good bit using Eastern Michigan, with excellent results. (1* school)

Seem a little heavy on offense.

You'd think, but they haven't played that way. I'm up 28-14 halfway through the 3rd now because I broke a run with Hart. Been a close game. Hart has like 25 carries for 105 or something to that effect.

I'll be back to post the stats when I'm finished.

Re: Jay's Realism Sliders for All-American (TESTED X360)

Michigan 45, Oregon 28

Henne 13-24, 162 yards, 3TD, 1 INT, 54%, 1 sack
QB #10 (ORE) - 15-25, 305 yards, 3TD, 2INT, 2 sack

Hart 36-150, 4.1avg, 3TD, Long of 22, 110 AFC
RB #28 (ORE) - 19-87, 4.5, 13 long, 15 AFC
Grady 7-14

Manningham 7-91 2TD
Massey 2-43 1 TD
Arrington 2-9
Mathews 1-17
Hart 1-2

----

Would have managed their passing game a lot better but gave up 3 large plays... 1 a screen that was beautifully blocked to their backup HB #24, a play that I tried to jump and miss with the last man back, and a busted tackle play - all went at least 52 yards. It was raining and one of my guys appeared to slip on the 52 yard play.

One of my INT's was a BEAUTIFUL user pick, the type you save on the highlights - DB caught it at very height of jump!

Just to show that the blocking sliders aren't unbalancing, the CPU O-Line registered ZERO pancakes, while my OL managed a very respectable five.

The CPU did fumble twice, but neither looked cheap and it was raining. I also muffed a punt for a turnover.

It was actually one of my crazier game, but at no time did it not feel like good football. Obviously I couldn't do a ton with Hart, needing 36 carries for 150.

Give em a shot, they look different but they play very nicely.

---

Also here's some defensive stats for you folks to see tackle distribution.

ROLB Graham - 9 TKL
DE Jamison - 8TKL, 1 TFL
DE Graham - 8TKL, 3TFL
CB M. Trent - 7TKL, 2INT
SS J. Adams - 7TKL

ORE #40 MLB - 12 TKL, 2TFL
ORE #34 ROLB - 10 TKL, 1TFL
ORE #15 SS - 8 TKL

---

As you can see most of the tackles are being made by backers and linemen. You really see the first and second levels with these settings.

Obviously they are still a work in progress but a very solid base that went a different direction than most people.

Re: Jay's Realism Sliders for All-American (TESTED X360)

tried a game out and I liked them except for the Human int I had 4

here is the stats from the game even though i got 4 i still lost
played random I was UNC Vs Memphis

UNC
QB Yates 16-26 127 0 -1 61% 1 Sack
Like the 1 sack had time but not to much scan the field if nothing dump it off why my yards were so low

RB Rich 23 120 2 TD Long 41 20+ I had 2
first play was the 41 yarder I thought this is going to be to easy but memphis came around and started shutting me down without that it was 22-79 plus i had another 20
they were not loses just 1-2 gains

rest of the rushes RB, WR QB 8-45

Receiving
Rich 5-47
WR Nicks 4-41
WR Foster 3-14
4 others with 1 catch a piece for 25 yards

Defense
MLB 13 tackles
FS 9 tack 1 INT
SS 8 Tak 1 INT
both CB both had INTS as well so 4 total

2 I user picked myself playing CB I jumped a route and got it and another was over the middle and QB over though the WR, other were by Computer and on a slant and the other was a tip in the air that safty came down with

Memphis
QB 22-31 256 2 - 4 70% 5 sacks
could still get pressure

RB Doss 18-74 1 12 was long
others 9 - 14

WR
Calhoun 6 -90
Jones 5 -39
Singleton 4-60 2td

I ran 57 plays they ran 58 just runs and passes
4-12 5-11 on 3rd downs
3 To and 4 TO for them
one of mine was a fumble they took back

I was driving down by 8 on the 23 yard line with 8 sec left forced a pass when I got my interception and they locked up the game. I liked how it played but the 4 picks and I had a hard time stopping them from passing except for the picks but UNC SEC is not the best going to try another game and let you know how it goes

Thanks for the great feedback!

Turnovers happen, the biggest thing I'm hoping for (other than otherwise all-around great gameplay) is that the turnovers are a little less common.

The most turnovers I've seen so far have also been 4, and I play with Michigan so that's definitely not unfeasible - just don't want it to be every game.

Thanks for testing, and hope to see more results!
