Re: DJ's NCAA 12 AA Slider Set

Hello DJ, I picked up NCAA 12 about 2 weeks ago, and I've tried several sliders sets listed here in the OS sliders forum, on Heisman and on AA. After getting frustrated trying to tune the sliders on Heisman, I thought I'd give yours sliders a legitimate shot. So I've used the set you have listed exactly as shown on page 1 for the last 3 days. I started a new dynasty with Kentucky, and I've played the first 5 games of the schedule to get a good feel for the sliders. I even wrote down all the results, because I think it's important to get all the little details.

Anyway, here are the results of game 1 against Western Kentucky:

Score: WKU 24 - Kentucky(me) 48
First Downs: 14 / 11
Total Offense: 412 yds / 412 yds
Rushes-Yds-TD: 37-231-3 / 26-267-5
Comp-Att-TD: 15-28-0 / 13-29-1
Passing Yds: 181 / 145
3rd Dwn Conv: 3-14(21%) / 3-11(27%)
4th Dwn Conv: 2-2(100%) / 1-3(33%)
Red Zone-TD-FG: 5-2-1(60%) / 4-3-1(100%)
Turnovers: 1 / 0
Fumbles (Lost): 0(0) / 1(0)
Interceptions: 1 / 0
Punts Avg: 6-35.3 / 3-51.3
Penalties-Yds: 2-15 / 0-0
TOP: 17:44 / 14:16
TFL: 2 / 8
Sacks: 2 / 3
Pass Deflections: 3 / 7
Field Goals: 1-2 / 2-2
WR Drops: 2 / 1
Pancakes: 0 / 0
Broken Tackles: 4 / 1

Analysis: At the end of the game, I felt like the sliders played out pretty well. I tried passing the ball around quite a bit, throwing 29 passes throughout the game. But when it became crunch time toward the end of the 3rd quarter, it was all ground and pound. Raymond Sanders had four(4) touchdown runs of 66, 57, 51, and 3 yards.

Re: DJ's NCAA 12 AA Slider Set

In game 2, I went up against a little stronger opponent in Central Michigan. I figured it would be a little tougher than against WKU, but it ended up being just as easy.

Here are the results:

Score: CMU 14 - Kentucky(me) 49
First Downs: 12 / 21
Total Offense: 306 yds / 496 yds
Rushes-Yds-TD: 19-65-0 / 40-198-6
Comp-Att-TD: 18-36-2 / 18-30-1
Passing Yds: 241 / 298
3rd Dwn Conv: 4-12(33%) / 2-10(20%)
4th Dwn Conv: 0-1(0%) / 4-5(80%)
Red Zone-TD-FG: 2-1-1(50%) / 7-5-0(71%)
Turnovers: 1 / 1
Fumbles (Lost): 0(0) / 0(0)
Interceptions: 1 / 1
Punts Avg: 7-37.1 / 1-56.0
Penalties-Yds: 2-8 / 1-5
TOP: 10:06 / 21:54
TFL: 6 / 4
Sacks: 4 / 1
Pass Deflections: 3 / 5
Field Goals: 0-1 / 0-1
WR Drops: 6 / 1
Pancakes: 0 / 0
Broken Tackles: 6 / 5

Analysis: Wow, Morgan Newton throwing for 298 passing yards and a TD on a play-action bomb to Leron King. Raymond Sanders with six(6) touchdown runs of 57, 13, 6, 4, 2, and 2 yards.

Sliders still felt ok at this point, and I was starting to get cocky with my passing skills.

Re: DJ's NCAA 12 AA Slider Set

In game 3, I played host to Louisville, the annual battle for the Governer's Cup. Both teams were pretty evenly rated, and I felt comfy passing the ball around last game, so I let it fly during the first half.

Sure enough, I threw 2 picks, and I got behind early. But in the 2nd half, my running game carried me to another victory.

Here are the results:

Score: Louisville 17 - Kentucky(me) 24
First Downs: 14 / 18
Total Offense: 302 yds / 364 yds
Rushes-Yds-TD: 28-94-1 / 42-179-2
Comp-Att-TD: 13-27-1 / 10-25-1
Passing Yds: 208 / 185
3rd Dwn Conv: 5-13(38%) / 5-14(35%)
4th Dwn Conv: 0-1(0%) / 3-4(75%)
Red Zone-TD-FG: 1-1-0(100%) / 3-2-1(100%)
Turnovers: 1 / 2
Fumbles (Lost): 1(0) / 1(0)
Interceptions: 1 / 2
Punts Avg: 5-37.6 / 3-46.7
Penalties-Yds: 3-20 / 0-0
TOP: 13:48 / 18:12
TFL: 10 / 6
Sacks: 2 / 1
Pass Deflections: 5 / 7
Field Goals: 1-1 / 1-1
WR Drops: 2 / 1
Pancakes: 0 / 0
Broken Tackles: 5 / 3

Analysis: Whew, this one was pretty close, and a very hard fought win by Kentucky. After this game, I thought the sliders were dialed in perfectly. The CPU offense was effective, and I was having a little trouble throwing the ball against a stingy Charlie Strong defense. I was able to run the ball much better in the 2nd half, but I felt good about the sliders when it was over.

Re: DJ's NCAA 12 AA Slider Set

In game 4, I had the Florida Gators come into Lexington for my SEC opener. After throwing 2 picks the last game, and after getting burned by blitzing so much the first few weeks, I decided to play a very conservative game. I ran clock a lot, and I only threw the ball one(1) time in the 2nd half. As a matter of fact, I only threw 5 passes all game, and I completed all 5 of them.

The results, unbelievably, will blow your mind.

Score: Florida 7 - Kentucky(me) 31
First Downs: 16 / 9
Total Offense: 243 yds / 198 yds
Rushes-Yds-TD: 26-70-0 / 32-130-2
Comp-Att-TD: 16-35-2 / 5-5-1
Passing Yds: 173 / 68
3rd Dwn Conv: 7-14(50%) / 6-9(66%)
4th Dwn Conv: 1-3(33%) / 0-0(0%)
Red Zone-TD-FG: 2-2-0(100%) / 2-2-0(100%)
Turnovers: 3 / 0
Fumbles (Lost): 2(2) / 0(0)
Interceptions: 1 / 0
Punts Avg: 3-38.0 / 2-44.0
Penalties-Yds: 1-5 / 2-9
TOP: 12:22 / 19:38
TFL: 6 / 4
Sacks: 1 / 3
Pass Deflections: 0 / 8
Field Goals: 0-0 / 1-1
WR Drops: 2 / 0
Pancakes: 0 / 0
Broken Tackles: 4 / 2

Analysis: Florida took the opening kickoff, run 3 plays, punted. I ran 3 plays, punted. Florida got it back, drove 70 yards down to the 1 yard line. On 4th down, they ran play action, and my linebacker hit the QB, jarred the ball loose, picked it up, and run it 92 yards for a TD. So I was ahead 7-0.

Then I held them on a 3-out, they punted, and I got it back. I drove it down to the 30 yard line, and I kicked a FG to make it 10-0. Late in the 2nd quarter, Sanders took a counter to the house from about 25 yards out. That made it 17-0 at halftime. In the 2nd half, I put together a 17 play drive in which I didn't throw a single pass. I scored a TD and nearly ran out the entire 3rd quarter. So I was up 24-0. After stopping them on 4th down in their own territory, I got the ball back. Instead of running the ball, I did a play-action bomb to King for a 37 yard touchdown. Boom, 31-0.

Florida scored a TD with 8 seconds left to go in the game to make it 31-7.

What a game, but unfortunately, I know for certain, there's no way on God's green earth that I should be able to run 17 straight running plays, march down the field, and score a touchdown against Florida. That's just ridiculous.

I figured this game was a fluke, I'll try one more game, this time I go on the road and play at LSU.

Re: DJ's NCAA 12 AA Slider Set

Game 5, Showdown against LSU, in Baton Rouge.

Death Valley, all the custom stadium sounds, the works. Amazing atmosphere.

I thought I'd play conservative again, and this time, I was even more surprised than I was the last game.

Check out these rushing yards:

Score: Kentucky(me) 31 - LSU 10
First Downs: 11 / 13
Total Offense: 354 yds / 249 yds
Rushes-Yds-TD: 36-280-4 / 24-66-1
Comp-Att-TD: 5-8-0 / 13-30-0
Passing Yds: 74 / 183
3rd Dwn Conv: 2-7(28%) / 5-13(38%)
4th Dwn Conv: 1-2(50%) / 1-1(100%)
Red Zone-TD-FG: 2-2-0(100%) / 1-1-0(100%)
Turnovers: 0 / 2
Fumbles (Lost): 0(0) / 0(0)
Interceptions: 0 / 2
Punts Avg: 2-46.5 / 4-39.0
Penalties-Yds: 0-0 / 3-20
TOP: 18:52 / 13:08
TFL: 6 / 8
Sacks: 3 / 1
Pass Deflections: 5 / 2
Field Goals: 1-1 / 1-2
WR Drops: 0 / 4
Pancakes: 0 / 0
Broken Tackles: 5 / 2

Analysis: Well, LSU actually led in this game 7-0. They took the opening kickoff, and then they drove about 70 yards, and scored a legitimate touchdown. I continued to run the ball a lot, with an occasional pass. Until I started breaking some big runs. Raymond Sanders broke a 78 yard TD late in the 2nd quarter. And I led 17-10 at halftime.

Late in the 3rd quarter, Sanders had another big run, this time a 73 yard touchdown run. He ended up with 4 TDs on the day. And LSU could never get back in the red zone to score in the 2nd half.

Re: DJ's NCAA 12 AA Slider Set

So, after 5 games into the season, Raymond Sanders has 147 carries, 1090 yards, and 18 touchdowns. He's averaging 7.4 ypc, and he's fumbled the ball only once. Sanders is now the leading Heisman candidate.

I think I'll stop the season here, and I'll try a new set of sliders this weekend.

A few points: I'm not sure how you feel about this, but I need more penalties in my games. After 5 games, I only had 3 penalties called on me. And one of those was delay of game.

The CPU offense needs a boost somehow. Not sure what to do, because after 3 games, I thought we had these sliders nailed.

The USER passing offense feels about right. It's challenging. The USER rushing offense needs to be toned down, somehow. As much as I'd love to see it in real life, there's no way a sophomore running back from Kentucky should be the Heisman front-runner with 1090 yards and 18 TDs after 5 games.

By all means, feel free to change the penalty sliders ... remember, these are YOUR sliders, I am merely providing a base set. I don't like a ton of offsides and false start penalties, I feel it bogs the game down.

Try turning down HUM RB Ability and Block -5 each. If that is still too easy, raise CPU Rush D.

The CPU does a good job on offense against me, but if you need more of a challenge, I'd start with raising CPU Pass Accuracy.

I hope the suggestions help. Thanks for the feedback.

Re: DJ's NCAA 12 AA Slider Set

strange how these sliders play out for everyone... I'm getting close to just trading this game in. tired of all the tweaking, not even knowing which direction to take half the time. it's no one's fault, but the more i play this game the more i find it to be the piece of garbage it is... it kills me because i LOVE college football. i've already given up on madden so it looks like i'm close to being done with football video games for good...
