Defence is stacked...can't stop anyone

I notice my DBs cover far worse when i'm playing a lower overall team. I've got a 96 rated defense, but they don't seem to do well against bronze players... But when i play good players, even receivers which are better than my cover guys, it plays more realistically at least (players actually play "smart" rather than running the wrong direction. Also, zone seems to work a lot better in this game than in past iterations. A lot of my picks have come when i go to zone.

Played a guy earlier and he went for it every 4th down, one time it was like 4th 27 and he converted. I ended up losing on some bs.

for a quick version , i have decent DBs (86> ovr) and use the 3-2-6 or a Dime/Quarter.. and a 3-3-5 a few times. Those usually work for me... I either just play man and watch the TE since that is usually Users favorite target.

To be honest how i stop peoples offense usually, i study what type of plays they run usually. If they pass to the TE alot i cover him, If they run mostly i use blitz.. you get the idea. I only use those formations though.

Sounds good. I'm trying to working on stopping the sideline routes. They are hard to start with someone who abuses total control passing.

Mix up zone and man.

When you are manned up, take a blitzing backer or a play where he is normally a spy and protect the middle of the field manually.

At half check the stats, if he is targeting one receiver, spotlight him and hot route a player to man cover him, so essentially you'll double cover him.


These are my solutions and they are not that great. The fact of the matter is if you try and use sound football logic the game punches you right between the legs.

Oh 3rd and 20....lets run quarters. Oh hey, how did that receiver get behind my 4 Safeties....its frustrating.

Honestly, the best way to stop players is to have a solid plan and have a superior d-line. I'm not talking about low-level gold, go for guys in the low 90's that will be able to get pressure on guys and still having a ton back in coverage. I think I was 12-12, and after picking up Kyle Williams (92) and Dwight Freeney (92) to go along with Bowers (88) and Ngata (88 I think) my defense went from a weakness to dominating. Now, with all the wins racking up (I think I'm 27-15) I've been able to splurge on offense.

In regards to the plan, always play it safe. If the guy has run three plays in a row for 20 yards, don't panic. Try to prevent bringing heavy blitzes as that will open you up for big plays.
