I have always thought the rule was once the returner "muffs" the ball which means it was touched by the returner it is consider a fumble there for a live ball and can be returned for TD by the Defense intill tackled or just falling down on the ball.

Its considered a live ball but it can not be advanced once a defender recovers it.

This is the rule in Louisiana High School Football, every level for NCAA football, and in the NFL. Yet its been incorrect on NCAA and Madden every year since 2003.

ok I guess I was wrong, cause I have seen the ball advanced before after being muff unless it was just a fumble that I saw.. too many darn rules

Notice that the CPU runs a TON of trick plays this year? Well, unfortunately, you can still sniff 'em out with the coach camera. If you're in man coverage and go into coach cam one of your defenders will "line up" with the QB, a dead giveaway that the play is the QB Throwback...Would've thought that they'd have taken this out...

The defense can advance a muff in the NFL.
