New Dolphins Dynasty thread?

Would anyone be interested in reading about my new dolphins franchise? Or would such efforts be a waste of everyone's time? For the record, I am taking the Zazzali draft path. Thoughts?

I'll read it as well. The Dolphins have a lot of holes to fill, so you might consider trading down at 1-1(if you do the 2008 draft). You might see if you can make a trade for the 49ers LT Joe Staley.

I took the Miami Dolphins as a challenge and I am proud to say I won the Superbowl in the first year. I'm not sure how you get to the Zazzali draft (until now I have never heard of it). But in my first year, I traded away my top pick for several other picks and loaded up.
I also traded away the current quarterbacks to get more draft choices.
Suggestion: Pick Brian Brohm in the second round.
There's some really good recievers in the later rounds too - Mario Manningham and Harry Douglas are steals. DT Athya Rubin is also a steal in the late rounds. Your are going to need some TE (Jermichael Finlay, Mark Moffitt and Kellen Davis would be better than the current roster TE).

Re: New Dolphins Dynasty thread?

actually i may take the ozzie jones path after all. how does joe kain stack up with zazzali or essex? i already held the 08 draft, traded out of the first pick and my draft looked as follows:

Rd. 1 #8- ROLB Keith Rivers 90 (94)
Rd. 1 #32-SS Kenny Phillips 87 (91) (moving him to Free Safety so he gains a potential point)
Rd. 2 #4-HB Felix Jones (he actually fell to the second round so i traded back up to get him) 88 (96 pot)
Rd. 3 #9-DT Dre Moore 91 (94)
Rd. 4 #4-WR Mario Manningham 86 (94 pot)
Rd. 4 #32-OT Demetrius Bell 69 (87) playing him at LT until i find a better option
Rd. 5 #1-OLB Xavier Adibi 86 potential
Rd. 5 #8-OG Roy Schuening 75 (86 potential)
Rd. 7 #14-DT Athya Rubin 85 (87)

Undrafted FAs:
QB Andre Woodson (i know i was shocked he went undrafted!) 77 (94)
SS Chris Horton 83 (86)
TE Mike Peterson 60 (86) (on a side note, his learning sucks so he doesn't seem to develop at all....is there any way to aid this?)
OG David Hale 68 (87)
LT Tony Hills 66 (84)

My 2009 Draft picks are:
1st
1st (From Baltimore)
2nd
2nd (From the Packers when I traded Jason Taylor as he's getting up there in age and isn't a viable long term option)
3rd
3rd (From the Broncos....traded Joey Porter...same thing)
4th
5th
7th (from the Packers also included in the Taylor deal)

Key FA signings:

I am a firm believer that you build through the draft. Furthermore, if your picks develop as you expect them to, they're going to eat into your cap years down the road, so I generally don't advocate much activity in FA with the exception of some depth. However occasionally if I find a player who is still young and fills a huge area of need, I will pull the trigger. So my 08 Free Agent signings are:

CB Marcus Trufant 88 ovr (90 pot)-25 yrs old
RE Terrell Suggs (yes i converted him from ROLB to a RDE since i run a 4-3) 88 ovr 91 potential-24 yrs old
RG Ben Noll (23 yrs old) 87 ovr, 88 potential.

Re: New Dolphins Dynasty thread?

so my 09 Depth chart looks like this:

2. Andre Woodson (since i'm going to go QB next draft, my plan is to flip him for picks)
3. Craig Nall

1. Reagan Mauia
2. Leonard Weaver

WR:
1. Mario Manningham
2. Ted Ginn
3. Derek Hagan
4. Greg Camarillo
5. Chandler Williams

Re: New Dolphins Dynasty thread?

Observations:

1. While young, my D is much farther ahead than my offense.
2. My starting OL, while it has fairly good potential, is not the best right now. I'm fully embracing the rebuild and allowing younger guys to play so as to speed up their development and to find out who is worth keeping. I only hope ownership agrees with this approach as I'm sure this will definitely hinder my W/L record this season. I'm willing to live with subpar results this year to set myself up for sustained success (along with good cap room) for years to come.

Team Needs: QB, LT, LG, RG, LE, a BIG WR, DT depth

Salary Cap Room: 34.20 Million

Ok getting ready to start the 08 Regular Season. I'll let you know the outcome, bright spots, season summary, etc.

BTW, I'm going the motivator special skill route from the get go. so i got the ambition, then the skill in front of motivator, now i'm saving up. don't have too much farther to go. I plan on implementing it after my next draft.
