Re: A new Football Coach RPG

It would be cool if you didn't just simulate the experience of a head coach but being able to work your way up from an assistant to coordinator and finally head coach would be a dream game.

I like it. Idea was originally moving up from Scout to Head Coach. Lately been focusing on the Head coach experience but I agree with you it would be a great experience.

I'm curious how you are planning the league. 32 team like the nfl or something different being that it is more RPG based so you only deal with "x" number of teams vs sandboxy like a madden

Will this game have online leagues?

ToastandToaster, I'd like to make them close in how many teams and which cities have them. The number of teams at this point can change but I'm trying to go with about how many teams there are now in the NFL.

I would say the future is really promising and playing with others would be a great way to play the game. The comment I'll make is the developmental focus right now is on the single-player RPG portion of the game. Playing with others has definitely been something I've thought about, but right now the focus is on single-player.

I will say one of my favorite features of other games was having fantasy drafts locally and with other players online. I wouldn't rule this out, I just don't have any news on online leagues right now.

Re: A new Football Coach RPG

I've got a suggestion, idk how likely this would be but what if each teams strength and conditioning coach has his own individual programming that would lead to strength, speed, and body fat percentage?

Each team would have their own approach on lifting weights with their own philosophies and it would impact the game.

Also a question, how will practice work?

Re: A new Football Coach RPG

I will be following along with this project. Props to you getting as far as you have already. I completely understand how much work it is to do this type of stuff. I've played around with this stuff, but I mostly stick to 3D rendering at this point. It's a come and go hobby for me anymore. It is definitely time consuming.

A true coaching game would be amazing. I have no idea how in-depth you will get with this project, I hope you get more resources and it can be fleshed out in a manner that you wish to see. I have always dreamed of a football game that had different levels of football and allowed you to be a person at any role and it had as much of an emphasis on the staff building, managing, etc. as it would the on-field gameplay.

I would love nothing more than building a staff, doing scouting, and all of the off-field "grind" work that isn't as flashy and then seeing it play out on the field. I've reached a point where on field gameplay is meh to me anymore. I want to use my brain and build staffs, teams, win the X's and O's battle, etc. I couldn't care less about stick skills, money plays, meta playstyles, etc. If I have a bad staff and am a terrible OC, I want to lose and lose a lot. I only want success when I actually earn it.
