Agreed. I had so much fun playing some exhibition games this week with 2K10 and updated rosters. I just really wish there was a way around getting both Columbus AND Detroit to the Eastern. Unfortunately not being able to has stopped me from being able to play a league which is what I was hoping to do. Such a shame.

Do you guys all just play exhibition and tournaments? If you play seasons (ignoring divisions, because I think it's irrelevant) how do you get around the teams/conference issue?

The classic Adams/Patrick divisions practically correspond to the current Metro and Atlantic except for only two teams, Detroit and Columbus. You'll face every other team in the *current* Eastern conference at least three times in your season. That's close enough to reality for me, personally.

Maybe I'm not understanding... you just want the Eastern Conference *exactly* accurate? Or are you trying to do something else?

Well, first of all I'm talking about NHL 2k10 just so we're on the same page, although 2007-08, 2009-10.. same league really. Divisions to me are irrelevant. In the end, the teams that get to the playoffs are based on more or less who the best 8 teams are in the conference no matter how you determine it. So I don't think it affects anything important to not have the realignment in 2K8 or 2K10. You're in the playoffs, you're in the playoffs. Same as with baseball, I've never understood why in MLB they call it a "division series" when they don't necessarily determine winners of divisions. They should be called League Semi-Finals. Anyway...back on point...

What I would want is for teams to be at least in their current conferences. But that's not possible. There's simply no way to take both Detroit and Columbus to the East. Why does it matter to me? Because I don't want to create a situation, no matter how improbable, where Detroit and Columbus end up against each other in the Stanley Cup Final. Arizona out though, in favour of Vegas? That I don't mind.

Anyway, there's no way to do what I'm saying. As much as I love 2K10 with the rosters I got. Just amazing presentation. It's so fun when I play an exhibition game. Molifox's rosters are truly amazingly well done considering the limitations in the game.
