Re: Battlefield 2: Bad Company and Battlefield 1943 announced

Granted I am not playing the beta but I was watching videos on youtube of the game a lot today and it looks and plays very very similar to Bad Company 1. Graphic upgrade and a small damage upgrade is about all I see. Am I wrong with this assessment??

Yes, it's similar, but videos don't tell the whole story. DICE has made a lot tweaks and additions that make it a much better experience than BC1.
  • Tighter controls
  • Regenerating health
  • Hit detection vastly improved
  • Greater bullet damage
  • Better ballistics - you have to account for bullet drop now.
  • No more instant zoom or no scopes
  • Sniping isn't a one hit kill unless it's a headshot.
  • Better balance between scopes and iron-sights.
  • Getting hit throws aim off
  • Medics aren't useless since they now have defib paddles.
  • Flyable UAV instead of attackers controlling an artillery placement to rain down shells in a specific area. Powerful, yet easy to take down.
  • ATVs - fast, agile and very useful to get to vantage/sniping spots.
  • Specializations (perks) - Nothing to crazy, but all are useful and balance each other out.
  • Parachutes
  • Flexibility with additional customizable kits
  • Kit specific leveling

Gravity has some effect on the shots you fire.

Yea, it is a gigantic update...very good..but without other types of matches, such as TDM etc. I don't think this game will be able to keep players' attention...hopefully...

I just wish you didn't have to get out of your scope to reload with snipers-big disadvantage. I also feel like thhat one of the bolt action sniper rifles should have been a one shot kill to the chest(some kind of random multiplier so it isn't every shot to the chest of course..or else the balance would be ruined. But when a guy goes behind a rock and his health regenerates...annoying.

Re: Battlefield 2: Bad Company and Battlefield 1943 announced

Previous Battlefield games didn't have trouble keeping peoples attention with only one mode. Conquest has some TDM sensiblites to it, but Battlefield would lose a lot of what makes it unique if they added a traditional TDM mode. Also, the maps just aren't simply built for it.

Well what I really mean to say is just a wide variety of different types of match types. Not really TDM.

Besides Rush and Conquest, we know there will be 2 other modes.

Interview

Quote:
In an interview with IncGamers, Dice’s Gordon Van **** let slip that the new modes will focus on teamwork.

“[W]e also have two new game modes that we're not disclosing all the details about – but I will say that it's completely based and focused on squad play,” he said.

“That, I think, is going to take it to the next level, and people really need to stay on the lookout for when we release those details.”
