Did they fix enemy AI at all for 3 in the remake? It was comical how you could just keep calling guys over to a corner one by one and make a pile of bodies without anyone alerting the rest of the dozen guys in the area.

I purchased Mafia 1 Definitive while it was on sale through Epic and it was a lot of fun to play through. I really would have liked to play it on PS5, but I read that there isn't a 60FPS mode so I just got it on PC and plugged in a XB1 controller.

The only negative thing I have to say about the game is mission mid story where you have to
Spoiler
On the hardest difficulty I had to play that thing about 15 times. I guess that's not really a negative thing, but it was definitely the hardest part for me to figure out.

I saw someone somewhere else complaining about the driving like it wasn't the 1930's when there was no power steering and everyone's tire rims were wooden lol so it does not bother me that vehicles don't handle very well.

I'll give it some time and maybe catch Mafia 2 Definitive on another sale. I don't even think I care about playing 3. I remember getting it on PS4 and making it a few hours in before I got tired of it.

I just finished Mafia 2 Definitive I was able to snag it on sale for $15 and reality it was cheaper then that. I loved it for the ps3 and had just finished the 1st game for the 1st time.

I was a bit disappointed this go around and it showed its age. The gameplay and story still were good, but it was the graphics that didn't hold up. For comparison they were a lot worse then Mafia 1's. I just played my first ever 4k game on the PS5 so that may have played some role as to why I noticed them more.

Its still a good value as it comes with all 3 DLC's so I'm glad I played it just wish it would have looked better. I'm playing Joe's now which I never played the first go around. The missions in it are timed which don't suit my personal taste. I'm not sure if I'll ever play the other 2 DLC's but its good to know I have the option.

Mafia 2 was the one I really hoped they made a remake as a well. If you're going to do a trilogy release where the 1st title is a remake and the third title is modern, having the middle title be a cash grab remaster was a bad idea. The second title stands out negatively graphically compared to the other two. Might as well made Mafia 2 a remake as well. I was looking forward to at least renting the 1st and 2nd game for the PS5. I watched the opening clip of Mafia 2 was immediately turned off with graphics especially after watching Mafia 1.

I was waiting to see if the Trilogy would get a next gen update before getting it. But I ended up watching the Mafia 1 walk through and didn't really care about Mafia 3. I really wanted to play Mafia 2, just wish it was a remake.
But I'm hoping for a potential Mafia 4

Yea from the naked eye it felt like going from a PS5 game to a PS3 game. I wish I would have played it during the PS4 days (before I got my 4k tv)

Mafia 2 was the one I wanted to play the most. But, it ashamed they didn't as much effort in that game as the first one. Like I said, if you put the effort to make the 1st game look as good as the final game, then you might as well do the same for the second title . Like Iiterally watched 10 seconds of Mafia 2 and it looked like a PS3 game.

That's the debate between remaster and remake. I feel anything from 7th gen is on needs a remake, not to just make it look modern, but to make the game engine more modern. Some nostalgic games would be unplayable now if you didn't put the effort to modernize the game engine. I wouldn't want a remaster of a old sports game, I would a remake/new title because I dont want to play with an outdated game engine.

But, if they did a Saints Row 3 type of remaster, that would have sufficed. Because at least they improved lighting, resolution, textures, and tweaks to gameplay. But if you just do a resolution bump and small tweaks elsewhere, that's just a lazy cash grab.

Another thing the game needed which goes along with your remake point is a fast travel system. A lot of times the mission ended with you just going back to your apartment. So a fast travel system would have cut back a little time.

Re: Mafia Trilogy (Mafia 1,2, and 3 Remastered)

Just started playing Mafia 1 on the PS5. It is definitely a great visual game, especially in cutscenes. The only thing is I wish they either made a next gen version or at the very least a next gen patch. I would love for this game to have been 60FPS on the PS5 instead of 30. It stands out. But, since it's been 2 and half years since release, I don't think we're seeing a next gen patch. I'll still play it through, just wish it was 60fps
