A deep sigh everyone. Breathe in, and then breathe out.

E3 week is over.

Now let’s do that breathing exercise again, it’s not time to panic sports gaming fans. While there were several notable games not shown to the public this week (NBA Live and 2K, WWE 2K), there were plenty of notable games shown (FIFA, Madden, NHL,PGA Tour, Forza Horizon, etc.).

Yes, I can confirm that sport to sport competition in sports gaming is largely dead…still. I can also confirm that sports games as a whole have never been better quality across the board. It’s a weird situation we find ourselves in with fewer options but most of which are better than ever.

Well, I agree with the point, that sport-games should going Indie. Most indie-developers making games with love and release their games on most important plattforms, like the PC.

In connection with PC:

At the moment I don´t like the situation of sport-games.
Some sport-games getting a stupid PC-Version with old engine or less features as the console-version. BUT some sport-games don´t get a pc-version anymore, like NHL or NFL.
I don´t have a console and I don´t want to buy it. Shy should I? I can also use my gamepad and I can also connect my pc to my tv. Why should I buy a console?

I would play all type of sport-games. Baseball, soccer, ice-hockey, basketball or american-football. I don´t care, if the game has licenses teams/players.

I only want to play is a sport-game with a realistic-engine (like Cryengine or UE4, not the stupid Ignite Engine) and a great, deep caarer-modus. And thats ON PC!!!!!!!

This makes sense to me. It shouldn't be this way, but it is. I know there was a football game that tried to get started on kickstarter but no body bought into it bc they didn't show any gameplay. If they would've showed decent gameplay I probably would've contributed but I'm not gonna blindly throw my money by just talk. Good article.

I agree that this was sort of depressing. There should be a kick starter for Konami basketball game.

PC has never been the most important platform because consoles bring in the most $. The problem with PC gaming is i can go to thepiratebay.com and get every game for free. Devs hate it but cant stop it.
Exclusive licenses and bad developers are ruining the sports genre. Every Genre has monopoly right now and aside from the show, the quality of these titles re all suffering from it.

Some of these companies need to start making generic sports games, no fuss about licenses or wasted money. Give us excellent gameplay and an insane amount of create team, players, jerseys, venues, etc. and y'all can make a lot of money. Let us create whatever leagues we want. Let us share everything with each other. I think that game would sell like crazy.
