I usually read a book also. Forgot about that one, but a magazine while listening to the Ipod will eventually do it.

I usually prop myself up on pillows and lay on the hardwood floor in the living room (tho for your friend I recommend a bed) lay in front of the TV and watch a movie or one of my old NFL game DVDs. Most of the time i'll watch the NFL DVD and i'd find myself fast asleep by halftime.

Also listening to the radio/ipod/whatever at the lowest volume that you can hear with will put you into a nice sleep after a while.

For me, I try to read for awhile. I keep going until my brain can't really process much, then I'll try listening to music at a very low volume. If you can listen to music without words, that helps fall asleep because your brain isn't trying to process the words.

Sometimes I'll take 2 Benadryl...it's the same stuff in Tylenol PM without the Tylenol....Non habit forming and knocks me out pretty well, but I sometimes feel a tad groggy in the morning after. It's nice for when I've got to get up super early but am used to staying up later.

I couldn't listen to Explosions in the Sky when I'm trying to sleep! All I could think about was Friday Night Lights and wanting to go back out on a football field.
