Re: So what's the weather like where you live?

had a pretty bad ice storm last nite. taking the day off from work today. I was gonna go as the office was opening up at 10 but after seeing all the people on tv either sitting still in traffic or slippin and sliding on the news, I decided to call my boss to report i'm not coming. She's going to try to go...drving from Denton, TX. Not a good idea. That's too far to go on these icey roads.

BTW that street on the first photo just had power lines strewn across it as did many other streets. It was tough trying to avoid them.
looks like our house from the ice storm we had in 1994. It was my senior year of high school and we were out of school for 2 weeks and out electricty was out for almost the whole two weeks.

Nashville schools are a joke when it comes to closing schools. They closed today. For what: A little bit of snow on the ground. Yawn. When I was in grade school, they didn't close this incessantly. We went to school in 2003 when they predicted 3-5" of snow to fall and then the ride home in the early afternoon was a mess.

In the 60's here in Northern California. It's only rained twice this month. I love the weather here but hate it at the same time.

It's not just Nashville. It's most of the South, especially the state of Tennessee.

We simply can't handle the threat of snow/ice.

We're officially under a Winter Weather Advisory from 6 PM until noon tomorrow. They're calling for 1-3 inches of snow, but they were just saying flurries last night, so who knows what we might get. This is under effect for both the Triad and the Triangle.

The schools here closed today for 1/2 inch of snow which simply coated the ground. The roads were simply wet and some were even dry. It was a LOL moment, for sure.

There was a high school girl killed in Winston-Salem driving to school about 8 years ago because of slick roads, so Triad counties really don't take even the slightest risks anymore.

Snow tonight? I think I've had enough for the year LOL
