I have two on deck. The first is League of Denial, which investigates the NFL and their concussion fiasco and Becoming Mr. October, a book written by Reggie Jackson.

I'm about 100 pages into The Black Prism. I'm enjoying it so far.

Re: OS Book Club Pt II

American Gods wasn't for me. I read about 175 pages and it was too weird, just gave up.

I really enjoyed the Twinborn trilogy by J.S. Morin. The first book Firehurler was the best but the finish was great.

The Rook was a good book. If you like Bourne, X-Men and MI6 stuff you will probably like this combo mystery. My biggest complaint was the flashback stuff. They were overly long and tedious and broke up the main story far too much (sometimes right in the middle of something interesting).

Reading the first Bourne book (I know it's different than the movie) and I really like it. The Marie character is VERY different.

Anybody read the Shining sequel, Dr. Sleep yet? I'm about 100 pages in and man, is it dark.

Yup. Book was quite different (and if you're only 100 in you have some twists and turns ahead for you) than The Shining and not as good but it is a very solid follow up novel.

Not sure if its been mentioned in this massive thread but

Mike Tyson's Undisputed Truth is Highly entertaining so far (280 of 590)
Surprisingly he is fairly intelligent, He has a vulnerability about him and obviously got taken advantage of by many, it is very interesting a must read for any boxing fan, and even if youre just a person who grew up in his era and didn't care for him or boxing this will have you hooked after one chapter.

Great book

I really enjoyed Tyson's book as well. Lots of humlity from him. He has no problems sharing some of his most embarrassing moments or calling himself out for his terrible behavior.

I think my favorite part of the book is when he goes into the rivalry with Mitch Green.
That dude should have written his own book! He was crazy!

Currently reading "The Dark Horse" by Craig Johnson. It's the 'Walt Longmire' series.
Very entertaining thus far.

Has anyone read any of the Gears of War books? I might give that a shot.
I'm also interested in reading the Bryce Harper book where it details his year in Jr. College.

Re: OS Book Club Pt II

I have been going through Brandon Simms' Three Victories and a Defeat, which is basically the story of Britain's history from the beginnings of the split from Rome to the American Revolution. It's a good book, but it is really deep and can get redundant. I've put it down for The First Clash by Jim Lacey, which is about the lead up to and the details of the Battle of Marathon. It's really good so far.
